What is a Rightangle?

A Rightangle job typically refers to a role that involves working with the Rightangle energy trading and risk management (ETRM) software. This software is used by companies in the energy and commodities sectors for trade capture, risk analysis, logistics, and accounting. Jobs related to Rightangle often include positions such as software consultants, business analysts, developers, and system administrators who configure, customize, or manage the platform. Employers looking for Rightangle professionals are usually in the oil, gas, power, or commodity trading industries.

What are the key skills and qualifications needed to thrive as a Rightangle specialist, and why are they important?

To thrive as a Rightangle Specialist, you need expertise in energy trading and risk management (ETRM), a strong background in finance or computer science, and experience with commodity markets. Familiarity with the Rightangle platform, SQL, and integration tools, along with relevant certifications such as Openlink or ETRM certifications, are typically required. Strong analytical thinking, problem-solving, and communication skills help professionals bridge technical and business requirements effectively. Mastering these skills ensures accurate system configuration, data integrity, and streamlined trading operations in complex energy markets.

What are some typical challenges faced when working as a Rightangle consultant, and how can they be managed?

As a Rightangle consultant, one common challenge is adapting the software to fit the unique workflows and compliance requirements of each client, especially in the energy and commodity trading sectors. Managing complex data integrations and ensuring seamless communication between teams—such as IT, trading, and risk management—can also be demanding. To address these challenges, successful consultants stay updated with the latest Rightangle releases, maintain clear documentation, and foster close collaboration with both client stakeholders and internal technical teams. Proactive communication and problem-solving are key to overcoming obstacles and delivering effective solutions.
