Job Summary:
Assists in the implementation of the Infection Prevention and Control (IPC) Program to ensure a safe environment for patients, staff, and visitors, under the director of Infection Prevention leadership. Serves as a liaison and resource for management of IPC activities and facilitate systems to collaborate with clinical and non-clinical departments to reduce healthcare-associated infections (HAI).
Job Requirements:
Education and Work Experience:
  • Associate's degree in Nursing, Public Health or related field; OR equivalent combination of education and experience.: Required
  • One year experience of healthcare, public health, or related field: Required
  • Two years' of experience in infection prevention and control: Required
  • Bachelor's degree in health related field: Preferred

Licenses/Certifications:
  • Certified Infection Control (CIC): Required within two years of hire

Essential Functions:
  • Assists the Infection Prevention Manager in implementing and monitoring infection prevention program throughout the organization. Collaborates with IP leadership to align IPC program goals with organizational goals. Serves as an infection prevention resource for clinical and non-clinical staff.
  • Supports the manager in implementation of IP plan to ensure successful integration of infection prevention program facility-wide. Utilizes HAI surveillance data to perform analysis, identify gaps, opportunities for improvement. Assists IP leadership in identifying opportunities, driving change, and improvement focusing on reduction of HAIs. Develops and maintains HAI line lists to assist in common cause analysis and corrective action follow-up. Assists IP leadership in preparing reports for Infection Prevention Committee, and other committees, as needed. Reports communicable diseases to local and state public health per Department of Health reporting requirements. Conducts ongoing surveillance of infections and trends to facilitate cluster and outbreak investigation. Assists IP leadership in outbreak investigation and response
  • Participates in quality improvement initiatives as directed by IP leadership.
  • Assists IP leadership in assessing compliance with Infection Control Accreditation Standards, Centers for Medicaid/Medicare (CMS) Infection Control Conditions of Participation and other state and federal regulations pertaining to Infection prevention and control.
  • Collaborates with other departments to promote infection prevention and improved outcomes.
  • Performs other job-related duties as assigned.
