Rfi information

How does an RFI specialist typically collaborate with other departments during the procurement process?

An RFI specialist works closely with procurement, legal, technical, and project management teams to ensure that requirements are clearly defined and vendor questions are addressed accurately. Collaboration involves gathering input from stakeholders to prepare comprehensive RFI documents, reviewing vendor submissions, and facilitating communication between internal teams and potential suppliers. This cross-functional coordination is essential for aligning business needs with available solutions and ensuring a smooth transition to later procurement stages.

What is an RFI (Request for Information)?

RFIs, or Requests for Information, are formal documents used by organizations to collect information from potential suppliers or vendors before making procurement decisions. They help companies understand the capabilities, products, and services available in the market, and are often the first step in the procurement process. An RFI typically outlines the information needed and allows vendors to respond with their qualifications and offerings. This helps organizations make informed decisions about which suppliers to invite for further evaluation, such as through a Request for Proposal (RFP) or Request for Quotation (RFQ).

What are the key skills and qualifications needed to thrive as an RFI specialist, and why are they important?

To thrive as an RFI Specialist, you need strong analytical abilities, attention to detail, and expertise in information management, often supported by a background in business, engineering, or construction management. Familiarity with RFI tracking software, document control systems, and project management tools like Procore or Aconex is typically required. Excellent communication, organizational skills, and the ability to collaborate across teams are vital soft skills in this role. These competencies are crucial for ensuring accurate information flow, timely responses, and efficient project coordination.

Job description

Senior AI ConsultantAtlanta - San Francisco
About the Role

Most AEC firms know AI matters. Almost none of them know what to do about it. They have run a pilot, bought a tool, maybe sat through a workshop, and nothing about how the team actually works has changed.

That is the gap KPR Transform closes, and the Senior AI Consultant is the person who closes it. You own client engagements end to end: you run the discovery, build the strategy, ship the workflow, and stay until it is actually how the team runs, not just what the deck said would happen.

You will sit with a firm's leadership one day and its project teams the next, and you need to be credible with both. Commercial ownership sits with the Managing Director. You own the substance: the diagnosis, the roadmap, the build, and the outcome.

What You\'ll Do

Lead engagements, start to finish

  • Run AI diagnostics and technology assessments that surface how work actually happens, not how the org chart says it happens

  • Build transformation roadmaps and board-ready business cases that rank the bets worth making

  • Partner with technical teams to build the workflow, tool, or system the engagement calls for, and stay through adoption

  • Design and deliver executive workshops for AEC leadership teams

  • Turn every engagement into a documented outcome. If it is not measured, it did not happen

  • Travel to client sites as needed to work alongside client teams (up to 75%)

Grow the practice
  • Support the Managing Director on scoping and proposing new engagements, bringing the delivery credibility that closes the deal

  • Spot opportunities to move clients further into KPR Transform's services and bring them forward with a clear thesis

  • Write and speak publicly on AI in AEC: LinkedIn, Substack, whitepapers, and industry stages

  • Contribute what you learn in the field back into KPRCo's methodology and frameworks

What You\'ll Bring
  • 8+ years of experience, with a track record leading client-facing strategy, advisory, or transformation engagements, not just contributing to them

  • A specific story about a workflow you changed. What it was, why you changed it, and what happened as a result

  • Daily, hands-on use of modern AI tools. You are building with this stuff, not reading about it

  • Executive presence. You can hold a room with AEC leadership and hold your own with the technical team building the solution

  • A bias to ship, and the independence to run an engagement without someone telling you what to do next

  • AEC experience. You have worked inside or directly with AEC firms, owners, developers, or owner\'s reps. You know how projects get delivered and where technology actually creates value

Bonus Points
  • Time at a top-tier consulting firm or in a forward-deployed, embedded delivery model

  • Fluency with AEC technology: Procore, Autodesk Construction Cloud, BIM/VDC, cost and scheduling systems

  • Prior experience building a practice or service line from an early stage

  • An existing public voice in AEC or AI

Compensation and Benefits

Base salary of $140,000 to $200,000, plus a performance bonus tied to engagement outcomes and standard equity participation. Benefits include health, dental, and vision coverage, 401(k), and flexible PTO.

Why This Role Matters

The AEC firms that figure out AI in the next few years will pull away from the ones that don\'t. KPR Transform has the brand, the methodology, and the industry relationships to lead that shift. This role is the person who makes it real, one engagement at a time.
