How much do rf performance engineer jobs pay per year?

As of Aug 23, 2026, the average yearly pay for rf performance engineer in Texas is $109,637.00, according to ZipRecruiter salary data. Most workers in this role earn between $90,800.00 and $129,500.00 per year, depending on experience, location, and employer.

What is an RF performance engineer?

RF Performance Engineers are professionals who specialize in optimizing and maintaining the performance of radio frequency (RF) networks, such as those used in cellular communications. They analyze network data, identify coverage issues, and implement solutions to improve signal quality, capacity, and overall user experience. Their work is critical to ensuring reliable wireless communication by minimizing interference, dropped calls, and data slowdowns. These engineers often use specialized tools to perform drive tests, evaluate network metrics, and collaborate with other teams to design and upgrade network infrastructure.

What skills and qualifications are needed to thrive as an RF performance engineer?

To thrive as an RF Performance Engineer, you need a solid understanding of radio frequency theory, wireless communication standards, and typically a degree in electrical or telecommunications engineering. Familiarity with tools like drive test equipment, spectrum analyzers, and software such as TEMS, Actix, or Atoll, as well as relevant certifications (e.g., CWNA), is important. Strong analytical thinking, problem-solving abilities, and effective communication skills are crucial for diagnosing issues and collaborating with teams. These competencies ensure optimal network performance, efficient troubleshooting, and successful deployment of wireless systems.

What are common challenges faced by RF performance engineers when optimizing wireless networks?

RF Performance Engineers often encounter challenges such as managing interference, balancing network coverage with capacity, and ensuring consistent service quality in densely populated or rapidly changing environments. They must analyze large volumes of network performance data, identify root causes of issues, and implement solutions without causing disruptions. Collaboration with field engineers, network planners, and operations teams is essential to address these challenges effectively and to keep up with evolving technologies and user demands.

What is the difference between Rf Performance Engineer vs Rf Test Engineer?

AspectRf Performance EngineerRf Test Engineer
Primary FocusOptimizing RF system performance, analyzing signal quality, and ensuring compliance with standardsConducting RF testing, troubleshooting, and validating hardware and software performance
Required SkillsRF design, performance analysis, testing tools, and signal measurementRF testing procedures, test equipment operation, and defect identification
Work EnvironmentDesign labs, performance analysis centers, and field testingTesting labs, manufacturing facilities, and field testing sites

While both roles involve RF technology, the Rf Performance Engineer focuses on optimizing and analyzing RF system performance, whereas the Rf Test Engineer specializes in executing tests and troubleshooting RF hardware and software. Both roles require similar technical skills but differ in their primary responsibilities and work settings.

Job description

Overview TeleWorld Solutions is seeking a highly skilled RF Engineer III to lead advanced RF design and optimization initiatives across complex wireless network deployments. In this role, you will serve as a technical leader responsible for ensuring optimal network performance, capacity planning, and spectrum utilization. You will work on high-impact projects supporting nationwide LTE and 5G network expansion , while providing technical guidance to junior engineers. Who We Are: The Architects of What Connects Us You find the signal in the noise of data. We build the signal itself. We are TeleWorld Solutions , and we are the strategic backbone for the world's most ambitious wireless networks. We're not just consultants; we're the engineers, designers, and problem-solvers that operators, OEMs, and tower giants trust to bring their boldest visions to life. Our playground is the invisible architecture of connection—from vast macro networks to the hyper-precise world of DAS, Small Cells, and Wi-Fi. With a legacy of hundreds of thousands of successful implementations , we help our clients navigate the entire lifecycle of their network: from the first line of a design to the final optimization, and every critical decision about performance and value in between. Why does this matter to you? The complex data you will master—the CDRs, network KPIs, and customer signals—flows from the very infrastructure we design and optimize. You won't just be analyzing abstract numbers; you'll be interpreting the digital heartbeat of networks that we helped bring to life. Your insights will directly influence the next generation of those networks. Here, your work as a data storyteller is powered by deep, tangible engineering excellence. You provide the "what" and "why." We provide the "how" on a global scale. Welcome to the engine room of connection. Let's build what's next Responsibilities Lead RF design, capacity planning, and performance optimization for wireless networks. Conduct advanced propagation modeling and interference analysis . Develop and implement strategies to improve coverage, throughput, and network reliability . Lead troubleshooting and root cause analysis of network performance issues. Evaluate new technologies such as Massive MIMO, beamforming, and advanced antenna systems . Collaborate with RAN engineering, transport, and field deployment teams. Provide technical mentorship and guidance to junior RF engineers. Support spectrum planning and advanced network performance analysis.
