Northrop Grumman Mission Systems is looking for you to join our team as a Field Engineer or Principal Field Engineer based out of Nashua and/or Manchester, New Hampshire.

What You'll get to Do:

Join our Field Engineering team and provide engineering support to resolve systemlevel problems reported by customers on delivered hardware. You will support Electronic Warfare System equipment onsite and, when needed, assist other locations by troubleshooting issues over the phone. In addition, you will conduct technical training and product briefings for customers, vendors, and company representatives.

In this role you will support the operation and maintenance of complex RADAR and Electronic Warfare (EW) systems, as well as sophisticated commercial digital and RF equipment and related electronics. You will test, troubleshoot, and perform repairs using both commercial and specially designed test equipment to isolate faults and develop technical solutions. Your work will involve extensive use of Linux systems and a solid understanding of digital and RF test tools such as oscilloscopes, spectrum analyzers, and power meters.

The Field Engineer will interact independently with customers, gathering information and providing clear status updates, while also coordinating engineering efforts across the company to identify solutions to customerreported problems. You will be responsible for writing detailed status reports for both customers and internal management, ensuring that all stakeholders are kept informed of progress and outcomes.

Roles & Responsibilities:

  • Interact independently with customers and coordinate engineering efforts within the company to identify solutions to customer reported problems.

  • Provide Engineering support to resolve system level problems reported by the customer on delivered hardware.

  • Maintain operational status and configuration of Electronic Warfare Stimulators.

  • Utilize knowledge, special test equipment (STE), and instrumented data to troubleshoot/repair hardware failures

  • Support customer missions, monitor and convey stimulator performance and assist with generating new emitters.

  • Generate weekly status reports documenting test events and anomalies warranting further investigation.

This position may be filled as a Field Engineer or Principal Field Engineer.

Basic Qualifications for a Field Engineer:

  • Bachelor's degree and 2 years of relevant experience; or an associate's degree and 4 years of relevant experience; may be able to consider an additional 4 years experience in lieu of a Bachelor's degree.

  • Experience in at least one of the following areas: operation and maintenance of advanced RADAR systems, operation and maintenance of Electronic Warfare (EW) systems, operation and maintenance of complex commercial digital or RF equipment, or a comprehensive background in electronics.

Note: a comprehensive background in electronics includes formal training, practical experience troubleshooting or maintaining electronic systems, and a strong understanding of analog, digital, and RF principles.

  • Hands-on experience with diagnostic tools such as oscilloscopes or spectrum analyzers.

  • Enjoys troubleshooting & solving problems and a strong desire to understand how the system works

  • Ability to work under pressure while maintaining a calm, patient demeaner in front of the customer.

  • Ability to travel domestically (up to 10%).

  • Ability to frequently move and position objects weighing 30 lbs.

  • Ability to undergo initial training at the Northrop Grumman site in Buffalo, NY for up to 30-60 days.

  • Must be willing to work flexible shift schedules (this may include weekends and 2nd shift work).

  • US Citizenship and a current/active U.S. Government Secret clearance is required. Must also have the ability to obtain and maintain SAP clearances.

  • Linux command line experience

  • Electronic Warfare or RF experience

  • High degree of aptitude in hardware troubleshooting

  • Fluent in RF / Electrical test equipment, Spectrum Analyzer, Power Meter, Oscilloscope and Digital Multi-Meters.

Primary Level Salary Range: $75,800.00 - $113,800.00Secondary Level Salary Range: $94,200.00 - $141,200.00The above salary range represents a general guideline; however, Northrop Grumman considers a number of factors when determining base salary offers such as the scope and responsibilities of the position and the candidate's experience, education, skills and current market conditions.Depending on the position, employees may be eligible for overtime, shift differential, and a discretionary bonus in addition to base pay. Annual bonuses are designed to reward individual contributions as well as allow employees to share in company results. Employees in Vice President or Director positions may be eligible for Long Term Incentives.
