What is a Revit Contract job?

A Revit Contract job is a temporary or project-based position where a professional uses Autodesk Revit to create and manage building designs and documentation. These roles are common in architecture, engineering, and construction industries, requiring expertise in BIM (Building Information Modeling). Contract durations vary, ranging from a few months to over a year, depending on project needs.

What are the key skills and qualifications needed to thrive in the Revit Contract position, and why are they important?

To thrive as a Revit Contract professional, you need strong proficiency in Autodesk Revit, solid understanding of architectural or engineering design principles, and relevant experience or a degree in architecture, engineering, or a related field. Familiarity with BIM workflows, AutoCAD, and potentially certifications like Autodesk Certified Professional are highly valuable. Excellent time management, attention to detail, and effective communication skills help you succeed in client-driven, project-based environments. These competencies are critical for delivering accurate, collaborative, and timely project models that meet client and industry standards.

What are the main day-to-day responsibilities for someone in a Revit Contract position?

As a Revit Contract professional, your typical day involves creating and updating BIM models, producing construction documents, and coordinating with other architects, engineers, or project stakeholders. You may be required to revise designs based on client feedback, ensure project files are organized and current, and collaborate on clashes or complex design solutions within multidisciplinary teams. Most projects are deadline-driven and may involve remote or hybrid work, depending on the client's preferences. This role offers the chance to build a strong project portfolio and further specialize in BIM modeling or project coordination.

Contract Autodesk Trainer - AutoCAD, Revit - Washington DC

Sterling Ledet & Associates, Inc.

Washington, DC

Contractor

Job description

Company Description

Ledet Training has been an Adobe, Apple and Autodesk authorized instructor-led training company for over 15 years. The company operates bricks and mortar facilities in Atlanta, Chicago, Denver,  San Diego and Washington DC. We also deliver classes online in virtual classrooms and onsite at customer locations so we are looking for trainers throughout the US.

Job Description

Trainers are sought for all Autodesk products. We have an immediate need for AutoCAD and Revit trainers.

This is a contract 1099 opportunity ideal for self-employed, independent contracting professionals seeking to supplement their business income with fairly regular opportunities to deliver classroom based instruction. We also work with employed individuals who have a flexible enough schedule to be able to occasionally teach a 2 to 5 day class, however.

Classes are typically 2 to 5 days long. Class times are 9:00 to 4:00 with a one hour lunch break. Instructors are expected to arrive by 8:00 and be prepared to stay up to an hour later, if necessary, to answer customer questions or assist them with any challenges. Classes are delivered during the business work week. We do not offer classes on evenings or weekends. Students are typically adult business professionals.

Daily Rates

As independent contractors, trainers set their own pay rate. Different instructors charge different rates, but typically those contractors who set their daily rate competitive with others in the industry have more training opportunities presented to them. Their are approximately six hours of classroom delivery per day, but time must be budgeted for preparation and setup.

Qualifications
  • Significant real-world experience on AutoCAD
  • Great presentation skills.
  • Caring attitude
  • Willingness to gain certification by Autodesk as an instructor including passing relevant certification exams and attending the Autodesk instructor training class. There is no fee to Ledet Training for this, but Autodesk does charge for certification exams.
Additional Information

A great applicant for this opportunity is someone who has both the technical expertise in the technology they are teaching as well as the effective presentation skills and caring attention to their students necessary to help adults learn to use technology more effectively to achieve business results.

Instructors who get the best reviews are engaging and entertaining, carefully prepared and organized, and focus on what class participants can do, not on showing how much they know. They are open to constructive feedback and continually hone both their technical and delivery skills.
