General Statement of Duties
The Hult Center Marketing Manager is responsible for oversight of all marketing and communications for specific lines of programming as assigned by the Director of Marketing. Marketing Manager's focus will be on ensuring that all campaigns are planned and executed on schedule and on budget while maintaining institutional brand guidelines. The Marketing Manager will also be responsible for working with the larger marketing team as a supervisor, to coordinate campaign delegation for digital marketing, content and design.
The ideal candidate: You have experience working in marketing and promoting live events with revenue backed objectives and are looking for greater experience overseeing marketing for a performing arts center. You have a passion for the arts and find value in helping others connect to them and enjoy the challenge of constantly thinking outside the box to reach them. Examples of Duties Performed - Duties may include but are not limited to the following
  • Work with a cross-functional team to implement multi-channel marketing campaigns, including subscription, single-ticket and individual event marketing, some of which may require collaboration with presenter/promoter/artist
  • Oversees execution and implementation of individual marketing campaigns determining advertising strategies for newspaper, print, radio, television and internet, coordinating research and negotiations to identify and place optimal advertising buys
  • Work with team to implement and safeguard the Hult brand(s)
  • Assist with earned media and promotions including manage media contact lists
  • Assist team and Marketing Director with budget and timeline management
  • Help develop and oversee marketing expense budgets for marketing and individual shows; provide responsible show expense tracking and settlements in a timely manner
  • Monitor campaign performance and adjust campaigns to ensure optimal ROI; monitor revenue goals in conjunction with Marketing Director and Booking Director
  • Provide recommendations to Marketing Director regarding strategies to improve Hult Center institutional marketing
  • Provide recommendations to Marketing Director regarding marketing to support Hult Center promoter and resident company events
  • Support, with the team, our resident companies and other key promoters, as needed
  • Work in partnership with the Programming team to plan and monitor sales strategies
  • Coordinate with team and Box Office on audience growth and development and ongoing patron relations.
  • Oversee marketing-related RFPs, bid preparations, and award decisions; administers contracts as necessary
  • Lead or participate in Division, Department or City-wide committees and task teams
  • Supervisory responsibilities, including providing daily work direction, hire, discipline and terminate employees, make pay adjustments, communicate performance appraisals, approve absences, and/or make employee job/assignment

Minimum Qualifications
Experience
Two years of professional experience in a live-event marketing role.
Preferred experience in promoting or co-promoting commercially touring events.
Education
Equivalent to a Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university in Marketing, Communications, Arts Management or related field.
Background
Must pass a background check.
The ideal candidate will have the following knowledge, skills, and abilities:
  • Experience in live event marketing with experience in single ticket and subscriptions marketing strategies
  • Experience with Adobe Creative Suite with knowledge of Photoshop and Premiere
  • Experience using Google Adwords platform including campaign creation, monitoring, and ability to evaluate performance
  • Ability to operate the Facebook Business platform and manage accounts and team member access including monitoring external promoter and artist access to system
  • Ability to work in Excel and utilize equations for campaign management
  • Understanding of grassroots outreach methodology with a focus on helping develop partnerships to support marketing initiatives
  • Knowledge of Public Relations standards including communication standards, press release writing, media interactions and management of press events including on and off-site interactions
  • Experience with email marketing platforms such as Prospect2, Active Campaign, Mailchimp, Constant Contact, or other customer database communication systems
  • Basic understanding of web site management and e-commerce strategies
  • Experience with tourism and civic outreach to community groups with goal of consensus building, partnerships, and general awareness
  • Ability to work with video files and video platforms (i.e. YouTube)
  • Experience with social media platforms and applicable marketing strategies for Facebook, Instagram, and TikTok with understanding of platform analytics and best practices
  • Experience with project management systems like ASANA and Trello a plus

Supplemental Information
Bilingual Pay Benefit
This benefit compensates non-represented employees up to 5% of their base salary. To qualify for bilingual pay, the employee must demonstrate fluency in an eligible language and pass a language proficiency test that is administrated by the City's Employee Resource Center division.
Eligibility List
This posting may also be used to establish an eligibility list of applicants for future vacancies. Candidates that are placed on the eligibility list will be notified via email which will include the duration of the list and how notification of call up will occur.
Non-Represented Retirement Program
Upon eligibility, the City will contribute an employee contribution of 6%, as well as the employer contribution, to a retirement program administered by the Oregon Public Employees' Retirement System (PERS). In addition, the City will pay a 3% contribution to a deferred compensation program if the employee contributes at least 1%.
From January 1, 2020, through December 31, 2034, most retirees may work for a PERS-participating employer for an unlimited number of hours while continuing to receive their pension benefit based on HB 2296. If you have questions about your specific situation, including any restrictions to hours, please refer to the PERS: Work After Retirement.
