Job description

Huckberry is seeking an experienced Retail Operations Manager to lead store-level operations and ensure absolute back-of-house excellence in our newest brick-and-mortar location in Hayes Valley. This role focuses on optimizing back-of-house operations, ensuring inventory accuracy, and running a stable, compliant work environment.

We're looking for a process-driven leader who embodies the Huckberry spirit, possesses strong operational leadership skills, and excels at workflow management in a dynamic retail setting. Reporting to the Senior Manager of Stores, you will take full ownership of core store operational functions while partnering closely with the Sales Manager to maximize store profitability. You will focus on inventory integrity, product flow efficiency, labor compliance, and codifying best practices to help scale our network playbook.

Responsibilities
  • Optimize back-of-house operations and maintain a stable, professional, and compliant work environment
  • Maintain consistent, efficient product flow within the store and hit the store's shrink target of 1% or less
  • Build productive, compliant weekly schedules within payroll targets and labor regulations to optimize floor coverage
  • Execute weekly cycle counts and process weekly damages to maintain strict inventory integrity
  • Coordinate product requests and facilitate inventory reallocation to the Distribution Center as required
  • Run hiring and onboarding execution at the store level, including postings, candidate flow, and first-week ramp
  • Document store-level operational workflows to feed the Senior Manager of Stores' network playbook
  • Partner with the Sales Manager to maximize store profitability, coordinate floor coverage, BOH support, and replenishment timing
  • Own the store's payroll spend, shrink dollars, damage write-offs, and BOH/supply budgets
  • Direct and manage BOH associates and key holders, building a strong store-level talent bench

Requirements

  • 3+ years of experience in a retail store operations, logistics, or inventory management role preferred
  • Proven ability to track and manage core operational KPIs like store payroll %, shrink %, and inventory accuracy %
  • Strong background in drafting schedules and ensuring compliance with labor regulations
  • Excellent communication, coaching, and interpersonal skills
  • Ability to stand for extended periods, lift moderate weight, and coordinate rigorous physical inventories
  • A passion for the outdoors, adventure, and the Huckberry brand
  • Interest in menswear and lifestyle brands
