Professional Pools & Care is looking for an experienced, dependable, and highly organized Retail Store & Operations Manager to take ownership of the day-to-day operations of our swimming pool retail store in Hazel Green, Alabama.

Starting pay: $18.00/hour, with higher starting pay considered based on relevant retail management, leadership, inventory, or swimming pool industry experience.

This is a full-time, year-round, hands-on management position. Our Retail Store & Operations Manager will not only lead the retail team but will actively work alongside them—helping customers, performing water tests, selling products, receiving inventory, maintaining displays, preparing quotes, managing warranties, and making sure the store is clean, organized, stocked, and ready for business every day.

We are looking for someone who takes ownership, notices what needs to be done without waiting to be told, and can keep both the customer experience and behind-the-scenes store operations running smoothly.

What You'll Do
  • Oversee the daily operations of the retail store
  • Open and close the store and ensure daily procedures are completed accurately
  • Lead, train, support, and hold retail employees accountable for their responsibilities
  • Assign and follow up on daily tasks and priorities
  • Provide hands-on support during busy periods and work alongside the retail team
  • Greet customers and provide knowledgeable, professional customer service
  • Perform pool and spa water testing and recommend appropriate chemicals and treatments
  • Assist customers with swimming pool chemicals, equipment, accessories, cleaners, parts, and other products
  • Prepare customer quotes and assist with retail sales
  • Assist customers with basic pool equipment troubleshooting and product questions
  • Create and manage customer work orders as needed
  • Handle warranty claims and warranty-related customer service
  • Manage purchasing, ordering, receiving, and inventory
  • Verify incoming shipments and ensure products are received accurately into the system
  • Maintain accurate inventory counts and investigate discrepancies
  • Stock shelves and ensure products are properly priced, labeled, and displayed
  • Coordinate inventory transfers and product movement as needed
  • Monitor inventory levels and help prevent both stockouts and overstock
  • Maintain merchandising and seasonal product displays
  • Keep the showroom, water lab, checkout area, offices, stockrooms, and customer areas clean, organized, and professional
  • Assist with loading and moving merchandise when needed
  • Operate the point-of-sale system and handle customer transactions accurately
  • Maintain accountability for registers, cash handling, and store closing procedures
  • Assist with company computer systems, POS equipment, and basic technology troubleshooting
  • Help maintain store signage, promotional materials, and customer-facing information
  • Assist with company social media and promotional postings as assigned
  • Communicate effectively with our service, construction, sales, and administrative teams
  • Identify operational, inventory, maintenance, or staffing issues and proactively address them
  • Follow and enforce company policies, procedures, and safety requirements
What We're Looking For
  • Previous retail management, store management, or supervisory experience preferred
  • Strong leadership skills with the ability to both manage and work alongside a team
  • Dependable, punctual, organized, and accountable
  • Excellent customer service and communication skills
  • Strong attention to detail and follow-through
  • Comfortable handling multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment
  • Self-motivated and able to recognize what needs to be done without constant direction
  • Comfortable learning swimming pool water chemistry, equipment, products, and terminology
  • Comfortable using computers, point-of-sale systems, email, and business software
  • Able to troubleshoot basic technology and equipment issues
  • Comfortable working with inventory, receiving shipments, stocking, and merchandising
  • Able to safely lift and move retail products and remain physically active throughout the workday
  • Comfortable handling cash and other company assets with accuracy and integrity
  • Must have reliable personal transportation to and from work
  • Able to meet company pre-employment screening requirements

Swimming pool industry experience is a plus, but we're willing to train the right person. Strong retail experience, leadership ability, organization, and a willingness to learn are equally important.

Schedule & Pay
  • Starting at $18.00/hour
  • Higher starting pay may be considered based on relevant experience
  • Full-time, year-round position
  • Day shift
  • Schedule may include Monday–Saturday based on store staffing and business needs
  • Performance and/or sales incentive opportunities
Benefits
  • Health, dental & vision insurance
  • 401(k) with company matching
  • Retirement benefits
  • Employee discounts
  • Company-provided training
  • Opportunities for professional growth and advancement
Why Professional Pools & Care?
