Location: Headquarters Office - Edina, MN (This is not a remote position)


Key Responsibilities:

The Assistant Buyer is responsible for overseeing a single category which includes selecting product, managing vendor base, and delivering on financial goals, while also working with the buying team to the open to buy, margin performance and markdowns across all categories. The Assistant Buyer will report into the Senior Buyer and support in the daily execution of driving the business.

To do this, they must have a clear understanding of the EVEREVE customer, possess a passion for the product, and have a working knowledge of retail math and the buying process. The Assistant Buyer is a motivated individual that will also spearhead the execution of strategic projects that will support company initiatives.


A successful Assistant Buyer will: 

  • Manage inventory based on OTB and maintain proper unit and dollar levels for buying area of responsibilities (plan % to inventory % to sales %)
  • Partner with the buyer to ensure execution of the seasonal strategy, segmentation and trend direction
  • Excels in identifying and reacting to patterns
  • Negotiates with vendors for trade/markdown $ with slow sellers
  • Ensures short term and long term profitability by planning and adhering to overall EVEREVE margin expectations
  • Supports buyer as needed in daily logistics such as purchase order creation and other time sensitive tasks
  • Collaborates with business partners in planning, marketing, and design to ensure the right product is in the right place at the right time
  • Displays exceptional communication skills both internally and externally
  • Develop and maintain partnerships with vendors through sharing of selling information, transparent conversations and respectful and timely communication
  • Open to learning and creates a working environment where team members are encouraged to give feedback, ask questions, share ideas, and have a voice

Requirements

  • Minimum of 2 years of buying support experience and/or graduate of a 4-year Retail Merchandising program
  • Bachelor's Degree
  • Strong retail planning analytical skills
  • Proficient in Excel
  • Self-motivator who takes initiative and ownership over managing and completing tasks
  • Innovative thinker and problem solver with ability to implement improvements to existing processes
  • Meticulous attention to detail in operational execution
  • Easily adapts to work with frequent shifts in direction
  • Excellent organizational skills and interpersonal skills
  • Working knowledge of Excel
