Job description

The purpose of theย Assistant Multi-Unit Manager at Hartsfield - Jackson nternational Airport is to provide operational support and oversight for retail operations, serving as a key management layer between Shift Managers and Multi-Unit Management. This role ensures consistent execution of operational standards, supports staff development, and maintains accountability for performance metrics while serving as a key communication link between front-line management and senior leadership.ย

Essential Functions:ย 

  • Ensures strict adherence to all retail operations Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) by conducting regular audits, holding Shift Managers and hourly team members accountable for operational checklist compliance, and implementing corrective actions when deviations areย identified;ย maintainsย consistent operational standards across assigned areas through systematic monitoring, documentation, and enforcement of established protocolsย 

  • Provides coaching, support, and performance feedback to Shift Managers and retail associates while ensuring proper scheduling, coverage, and adherence to company engagement behaviorsย 

  • Monitors and analyzes operational and financial data to support achievement of unit goals, implements corrective actions as needed, and provides insights to Multi-Unit Manager on performance trendsย 

  • Overseesย daily inventory procedures, coordinates with vendors on supply chain issues,ย maintainsย equipment functionality, and ensures proper receiving and processing procedures are followedย 

  • Reviews and approves timekeeping punches for assigned shifts and monitors overtime accumulation of hourly team members to ensure compliance with labor laws and supports operational budget objectivesย 

  • Maintains working knowledge of brand standards and lease agreements, ensures visual merchandising and store presentation meet requirements, and provides training to associates on brand complianceย 

  • Resolves complex customer and associate issues using sound judgment, ensures exceptional service delivery, and implements strategies to enhance customer satisfaction and revenue generationย 

  • Conducts on-the-job training for associates and Shift Managers, communicates companyย initiativesย and changes, and serves as liaison between front-line staff and Multi-Unit Managerย 

  • Ensures all federal, state, and local safety and health standards are understood and followed, trains staff on safety protocols, andย maintainsย compliance with all regulatory requirementsย 

  • Maintainsย proficiencyย in management systems (MIV, Crunch Time, Kronos), embracesย new technologyย implementations, and trains associates on system usage and best practicesย 

  • Implements marketing programs and promotional activities as directed,ย developsย creative revenue-enhancement strategies, andย providesย operational support to achieve business objectivesย 

Reporting Relationship & Role Information:ย 

  • Thisย position typically reports toย zone leadershipย within the assigned locationย 

  • Theย Assistant Multi-Unit Managerย position falls under the Fair Labor Standards Act as an Exempt position, under both the Administrative Exemption and the Executive Exemption testsย 

  • Theย Assistant Multi-Unit Managerย position requires varied scheduling with presence during different operational periods toย monitorย and support Shift Manager activities across various days and timesย 

Minimum Qualifications, Knowledge, Skills, and Work Environment:ย 

  • Education and Experience: The combination of education and professional experience must exceedย 4ย years:ย 

    • In a leadership role: Requires 2 years of experience supervising a team of retail operations professionals engaged in executing multi-unit retail management programsย 

    • In a technical role: Requiresย 4-6ย years of retail operations experience engaged in developing and delivering store management, merchandising, and customer service programsย 

    • Aย bachelor's degree in Business Administration, Retail Management, Marketing, or related program can count forย 2ย of theย 4-year requirementย 

  • Specialized Training:ย 

    • Knowledge of state and federal retail, employment, safety, and consumer protection regulations and statutesย 

  • Specialized Skillset/Competencies/Traits:ย 

    • Strong knowledge of retail inventory management, planogram execution, and visual merchandising standardsย 

    • Proficiencyย in retail technology platforms including POS systems, inventory management software, scheduling systems, and reporting toolsย 

    • Ability to analyze retail KPIs including sales per square foot, inventory turnover, shrink rates, and customer conversion metricsย 

    • Understanding of retail space optimization, category management, and seasonal merchandising strategiesย 

    • Business acumen with retail operations mindsetย requiredย to understand the long-term implications of merchandising, inventory management, and customer experience planning to advance organizational goalsย 

    • Demonstrated history of understanding the needs of retail business operations, brand partners, landlord stakeholders, the retail associate population, and individual store circumstancesย
