Job Summary
The Senior Merchandiser develops the seasonal merchandise strategy to drive retail store business growth against the financial plan, guiding their direct team and the cross functional team to create fast, easy and meaningful shopping experiences for our consumer. Responsibilities include editing and building assortment strategies, influencing investments, analyzing sales, GM% and KPIs to identify and prioritize opportunities, guiding the cross functional team, monitoring the market, providing in store visual guidance, partnering to create clear, impactful stories and consumer experiences and supervising a direct report(s).

Associate Responsibilities
  • Drive seasonal merchandise strategies and product presentations to create compelling omni-channel experiences and maximize revenue and conversion
  • Lead and influence the cross functional team to align, support and prioritize strategies across total D2C with strong Omni-Channel awareness
  • Buy assortments off the global product line and build strategies aligned to overall category and D2C strategy
  • Analyze business trends: Identify opportunities through sales, KPI and consumer performance analysis and partner with cross functional team to execute on opportunities
  • Communicate business results, seasonal strategies and visual presentation guidance to cross functional counterparts in marketing, merchandising, global product, planning, inventory, store operations, store teams, media and third party vendors as well as internal leadership

Monitor the marketplace and competitive set regularly, looking for trends, opportunities and visual presentation ideas with a focus on the omni-channel shopping experienceParticipate in the development of an annual and seasonal financial revenue plan and monthly forecast by category to maximize product profitability, GM$ and inventory managementBuild monthly visual merchandising presentation guidelines based on business goals and product strategies
  • Partner closely with the global product team to understand and influence product assortment options

Partner with marketing, creative, visual and integrated media to ensure storytelling needs are covered daily, weekly, monthly and seasonallyMine consumer feedback via store associate feedback, online ratings and reviews, Carhartt Crew touchpoints and in store firsthand experiences to identify optimization opportunities
  • Manage partnerships with third party vendors/agencies to deliver against the strategy

Required Education
  • Bachelor's Degree Required in Merchandising or Related Field; or equivalent years of related experience

Required Skills & Experience
  • 7 years of corporate retail experience or industry related experience
  • 2 years of leadership or project management
  • Apparel, retail or consumer products experience preferred.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite.
  • Ability and desire to work at both the tactical/operational and strategic levels.
  • Strong quantitative/analytical skills and mindset with intuitive grasp on retail math
  • Detail oriented.
  • Strong understanding and passion for product, merchandising, visual display, store and website experiences.
  • Demonstrated ability to communicate with clarity and influence, adapt messaging to the audience, and represent the organization professionally in high-visibility situations.
  • Team player with exceptional collaboration, communication and leadership skills
  • General product knowledge of apparel a plus.

Physical Requirements and Working Conditions
  • Office environment; cubicle setting. Extended periods of time sitting, standing, typing on a computer is required
  • Light Lifting (10-15 lbs.)
  • After Hours and Weekend Hours if necessary
  • Travel may be required up to 15%
  • This position has a Hybrid location: Associate will work on-site regularly as needed for work activities.
