Job description

The Retail Marketing Associate Manager leads multi-state retail marketing campaigns to ensure our retail marketing strategy is translated into high-impact, on-time, on-budget in-store execution. This role owns Out-of-Home (OOH) planning and execution and manages traditional media channels (OOH, Digital OOH, Direct Mail, Print) for priority P1/P2 campaigns. They oversee media vendor relationships, build promotional rollout plans, manage timelines, and ensure all priority campaigns are delivered accurately, compliantly, and on schedule.
This role works cross-functionally to align campaign planning and execution with Buying & Planning (B&P), Business Development (BD), and internal Marketing partners including Digital, CRM and Creative pods. The Retail Marketing Associate Manager partners closely with the Retail Marketing Director to deliver business objectives and provide monthly reporting tied to broader marketing KPIs.
JOB DUTIES:
Core duties and responsibilities include the following. Other duties may be assigned.
Campaign Leadership & Media Execution
  • Own planning and execution of priority P1/P2 retail campaigns across seven states, ensuring on-time, on-budget delivery.
  • Lead Out-of-Home (OOH), Digital OOH, Direct Mail, and Print execution, including placements, creative routing, flighting, and quarterly reports.
  • Manage media and production vendor relationships, including RFPs, budget/negotiations, and performance expectations.
  • Build campaign rollout plans to execute and deployment readiness checklists to ensure stores receive complete and accurate assets.
  • Support RMD with P1/P2 campaign planning, NSO and overall elevating our come-to-market strategies
  • Work with the Director to deliver key business objectives and help to provide monthly reporting towards marketing teams' overall KPIs.
  • Analytics fluency, including ability to interpret retail data and media performance metrics to derive actionable insights and execute on them.

Retail Calendar & Promotional Planning
  • Own campaign management throughout the year through our retail calendar, balancing priority campaigns, promotions, vendor partnerships, product launches, and retail capacity.
  • Partner with Buying & Planning, Business Development, Visual Merchandising to ensure execution of priority campaigns work to deliver core KPIs/enterprise goals.
  • Maintain timelines, launch dependencies, and execution milestones across markets.
  • Support the Retail Brand Marketing Manager to provide direction, prioritization, and performance feedback across brand activation, in-store execution, and Local Store Marketing (LSM) to retail operations and Buying and Planning teams.
  • Partner with Retail Marketing Director to ensure alignment with broader marketing goals, brand guidelines, and campaign timings.

Budget & Invoice Management
  • Own retail marketing spends for assigned channels and campaigns, including budget pacing and forecasting. Working to forecast annual spending and escalating overspends.
  • Work with Retail Marketing Director to review and approve vendor invoices, validate deliverables against scopes, and ensure timely submission to Finance.

Cross-Functional Partnerships
  • Lead monthly review of marketing team goals to improve their understanding of state of the business and Monthly Retail Ops meeting to ensure campaign readiness and alignment for next quarter retail initiatives
  • Ensure all retail-facing initiatives are compliant, accurate, and aligned to brand standards across states.
  • Serve as the escalation point for weekly promotions and P1/P2/P3 campaign adjustments.

Team Leadership & Pod Management
  • Work alongside existing Retail Marketing Associate Manager, supporting prioritization, and performance feedback.
  • Own workload planning across retail execution needs (priority campaigns, retail promotions, store anniversaries, one-offs) to prevent bottlenecks.
  • Ensure consistent quality control across all store-facing deliverables.

Reporting & Executive Communication
  • Provide monthly campaign performance updates tied to retail KPIs, including wins, gaps, and next-step recommendations.
  • Deliver quarterly traditional media performance presentations to senior leadership (President/C-Suite).

JOB REQUIREMENTS:
  • 4+ years of experience in retail marketing, field marketing; cannabis experience preferred
  • Experience leading or managing cross-functional retail workflows
  • Deep understanding of OOH/Digital OOH/Direct Mail/Print and vendor management.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office, Wrike, Smartsheet, and Canva
  • Power BI experience preferred
  • Excellent organization, time management, detail orientation, and communication skills
  • Availability for occasional travel to current and/or future retail store locations
  • Ability to thrive in a fast-paced, highly regulated industry.
