POSITION SUMMARY

Successfully promote and support the mission of Catholic Charities of Northeast Kansas as guided by the Catholic Social Teachings by providing superior customer service to our online customers. The Sales Floor Associate supports daily store operations by delivering excellent customer service, maintaining a clean and organized sales floor, and ensuring merchandise is well stocked, accurately priced, and visually appealing. This role plays a key part in creating a positive shopping experience by assisting customers, answering questions, and helping them locate products. The Sales Floor Associate also contributes to store productivity by flowing freshly processed merchandise to the sales floor. Success in this role requires strong interpersonal skills, attention to detail, and the ability to work efficiently in a fast paced retail environment. ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

  • Greet customers and provide friendly, helpful service.
  • Notify each customer about the sale of the day.
  • Maintain product displays, signage, and overall sales floor appearance
  • Support donation flow by transporting processed items to the sales floor, ensuring that every item is in its correct spot.
  • Assist with fitting rooms, returns, and customer inquiries
  • Follow loss prevention, safety, and operational procedures
  • Complete weekly pulls and rotation of old stock using the store pulls sheet to keep sales floor fresh and full.
  • Pick up items left draped over the racks or lying on the floor (overs and unders) to keep sales floor looking neat and organized at all times.
  • Maintain a clean, organized, and efficient workspace at all times.
  • Assist at the cash register when lines are long or to allow an employee to take a break. While at the register, process sales efficiently, ask customer to round up, handle returns, and follow strict cash handling procedures.
  • Other tasks as assigned by a manager.  



Requirements

MINIMUM POSITION REQUIREMENTS

  • Demonstrate a passion for the mission of Catholic Charities
  • Must be willing to live and perform by the agency's values: love, patience, kindness, faithfulness, self-control and joy
  • Catholic Charities promotes a diverse workforce.   • Must complete VIRTUS training, background screening, drug testing, and any ongoing training as required.
  • High school education preferred.
  • Prior retail, customer service, or thrift store experience helpful but not required
  • Basic cash-handling or register experience preferred
  • Basic math skills for operating the register and handling transactions
  • Ability to follow instructions, store policies, and safety procedures
  • Ability to bend, reach, and move merchandise throughout the sales floor.
  • Strong attention to detail in stocking, pricing, and maintaining store appearance
  • Ability to work efficiently in a fast-paced, donation-driven environment
  • Willingness to work around donated goods, which may vary in condition
  • Ability to maintain professionalism and a positive attitude with customers, donors, and team members
  • Must pass background check and drug screen.


PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS

  • Will be required to lift up to 25 to 50 pounds; able to stand or sit for long periods of time; may also be required to stoop, kneel, crouch, squat, bend, or stretch.
  • Must be able to stand and exert well-paced mobility for up to 5 hours in length
