Overview of the Role

The Sales Development Manager will be responsible for growing C.A. Ferolie’s business within the Convenience Channel across the New England territory.


This role will manage relationships with convenience retailers, distributors, wholesalers, and assigned clients to achieve assortment, merchandising, pricing, promotional, volume, market share, and profitability objectives.


The ideal candidate will bring a strong understanding of the New England convenience market and established relationships with key industry partners. Experience working with organizations such as EG America, Core-Mark, Global Partners, Nouria Energy, and other regional convenience retailers and distributors is highly preferred.


The Sales Development Manager will provide strategic recommendations and tactical execution in support of client objectives while helping customers achieve their category growth goals.


What You Will Do

  • Develop and manage relationships with convenience retailers, distributors, wholesalers, and key decision-makers throughout the New England territory.
  • Identify and pursue new business opportunities with regional and national convenience operators while expanding the distribution, assortment, and presence of assigned client brands.
  • Demonstrate a strong understanding of client products, policies, personnel, objectives, and go-to-market strategies.
  • Collaborate with clients to establish realistic sales objectives and develop strategies to grow volume, market share, distribution, and profitability.
  • Build and maintain productive relationships with key convenience customers and distributors, including organizations such as EG America, Core-Mark, Global Partners, Nouria Energy, and other regional operators.
  • Develop a strong understanding of the New England convenience retail landscape, including customer structures, distributor networks, category dynamics, competitive activity, and emerging market opportunities.
  • Monitor and analyze market trends, customer trends, promotional activity, consumer behavior, demographic shifts, competitive activity, and industry best practices.
  • Provide fiduciary management of client and customer relationships across innovation, assortment, pricing, promotional programming, shelving, distribution, and claims management.
  • Present new products, promotional programs, category recommendations, and strategic business opportunities to customers and distributors.
  • Support customer category growth objectives through data-driven recommendations, strong execution, and ongoing business reviews.
  • Manage customer and client expectations while maintaining accurate records, forecasts, promotional plans, pricing information, and sales reporting.
  • Manage and access company SharePoint sites, customer portals, client portals, and other internal platforms required to successfully manage the business.
  • Establish professional and frequent communication with clients, supervisors, associates, customers, distributors, and other business partners.
  • Elevate business risks, service issues, customer concerns, and growth opportunities in a timely and professional manner.
  • Work collaboratively with internal sales teams, client teams, distributors, and customer contacts to ensure successful execution of sales programs.
  • Participate in training and development programs designed to strengthen communication, organization, analytical, presentation, negotiation, and leadership skills.
  • Act as a collaborative team member who is honest, professional, and forthright in all business interactions.
  • Adhere to C.A. Ferolie’s Code of Business Conduct and all company policies and procedures.
Requirements:


  • Associate or Bachelor’s degree preferred, or four to ten years of relevant sales, account management, business development, or industry experience; or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Experience selling within the Convenience Channel is strongly preferred.
  • Experience working with convenience retailers, distributors, wholesalers, or consumer packaged goods manufacturers is preferred.
  • Existing relationships within the New England convenience market, particularly with EG America, Core-Mark, Global Partners, Nouria Energy, or similar regional customers and distributors, are highly desirable.
  • Demonstrated ability to develop customer relationships, identify business opportunities, negotiate programs, and execute sales strategies.
  • Experience in confectionery, snacks, beverages, foodservice, general merchandise, or other convenience-store categories is beneficial.
  • Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from groups of managers, clients, customers, distributors, and associates.
  • Strong analytical and financial skills, including the ability to accurately calculate and manage budgets, net sales, margins, promotional percentages, discounts, commissions, sales forecasts, sales velocity, days of supply, pallet configurations, and other business measurements.
  • Strong critical-thinking skills, including analysis, evaluation, creative thinking, information processing, and problem-solving.
  • Ability to prioritize workload, manage multiple accounts and projects, establish goals, and consistently meet deadlines.
  • Strong communication, presentation, negotiation, organizational, and relationship-management skills.
  • Working knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite, including Outlook, Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.
  • Willingness and ability to travel throughout the New England territory to meet with customers, distributors, clients, and internal teams.
  • Must possess a valid driver’s license and maintain a clean driving record.
