To thrive as a Restoration Ranch Manager, you need expertise in land management, ecological restoration, and agricultural practices, often supported by a degree in environmental science, agriculture, or a related field. Familiarity with GIS mapping tools, restoration planning software, and equipment operation certifications are commonly required. Strong leadership, problem-solving abilities, and effective communication help in managing teams, engaging stakeholders, and overseeing complex projects. These skills ensure the successful restoration of ecosystems, sustainable ranch operations, and alignment with conservation goals.

What is a Restoration Ranch?

A Restoration Ranch is a facility or property dedicated to rehabilitating land, wildlife, or sometimes people through various restoration activities. These ranches often focus on ecological restoration, such as replanting native vegetation, restoring habitats, and managing natural resources sustainably. Some Restoration Ranches may also serve as therapeutic environments for individuals seeking healing or recovery, often through nature-based programs. The specific focus can vary, but the primary goal is to restore and maintain the health of the land and its inhabitants.

About Arkansas Baptist Children & Family Ministries:
Our mission is to build, strengthen, and restore Arkansas families for the glory of God. We are compelled by the Gospel to pursue justice for the children and families of Arkansas. Family is the foundation of healthy childhoods, healthy churches and healthy communities. Families are in a battle for health, hope and wholeness. They cannot face the battle alone. We are here to hold up the family. We are here to stand with them and for them, giving families the strength needed to succeed.
About the role
  • The Arkansas Baptist Ranch, a ministry of the Arkansas Baptist Children and Family Ministries (ABCFM), is a 400-acre working ranch (cattle and horses) near Harrison, Arkansas. The Ranch provides a place of residence for several large sibling group foster families, while also hosting a thriving Christian marriage and retreat ministry and a weekly men's vocation and discipleship program.

What you'll do
  • The Assistant Director for Ranch Programs and Outreach will support and advance the mission of the Arkansas Baptist Ranch by ensuring the quality completion of tasks and developing new avenues for ministry. • Coordinate communication with donors and partners through reports, acknowledgments, and updates.
  • Collaborate with Ranch and ABCFM staff to improve systems, scheduling, and communication processes.
  • Serve as a point of contact with agency Communications Team members to promote ranch programs, events, and ministry impact.

2. Program Delivery (Education & Spiritual Formation)
  • Coordinate youth development programs, with a focus on foster children and families living on campus and in the surrounding community.
  • Develop and manage horse/livestock/poultry life skills programs and projects such as horsemanship, trail riding, livestock show animal projects.
  • Support and coordinate Ranch retreat activities for guests including campfires/cookouts, horseback riding, disc golf, hiking.
  • Recruit, train, and oversee volunteers to partner with the Ranch & ABCFM in the ministry.

3. Outreach & Community Engagement
  • Plan and implement quarterly outreach events to engage the community and increase awareness of ABCFM's ministry.
  • Represent the Ranch at local events, meetings, and ministry opportunities.
  • Partner with Mission Advancement and Community Engagement staff to build relationships and expand statewide partnerships.
  • Contribute to developing new ministry initiatives that extend the Ranch's impact.
  • Strengthen partnerships with Arkansas Baptist churches and local community organizations.

Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree in a related field or 3-5 years of relevant experience.
  • Experience in any of the following is desirable: youth ministry/foster care, non-profit program development, outdoor/livestock skills programs.
  • Ability to manage multiple responsibilities in a dynamic team environment.
  • Effective communication and organizational skills.
