Job description

Toast creates technology to help restaurants and local businesses succeed in a digital world, helping business owners operate, increase sales, engage customers, and keep employees happy.

The mission of the Enterprise Solutions Team at Toast is to empower our largest customers with technology that scales. The Senior Solutions Consultant plays a critical role in ensuring that enterprise restaurant brands are set up for long-term success: owning the design, integration architecture, and implementation planning that transforms a signed contract into a thriving, fully deployed operation.

As a Senior Solutions Consultant, you will serve as the primary technical owner from the moment a customer commits to Toast through the completion of their rollout. You'll work hand-in-hand with Pre-Sales Engineers, Solutions Delivery Leads, Product Managers, Technical Onboarding Consultants, and Customer Success Managers to ensure that a customerโ€™s technical solution is sound and that they are ready to scale. You'll translate complex business requirements into scalable technical designs, own integration specifications end-to-end, and be the single source of truth on solution integrity across the customer journey. If you're energized by designing systems that have to work at scaleโ€”and by being the person who ensures they actually doโ€”read on!

A day in the life (Responsibilities)

  • Customer Solution Architecture: Own the end-to-end technical design for enterprise restaurant implementations, including integration architecture, data migration approach (menus, configurations, etc.), environment requirements, and hardware and network assumptions.
  • Customer & Stakeholder Partnership: Serve as the primary technical point of contact for enterprise customers during the Plan, Pilot, and Rollout phases. Translate complex technical concepts for non-technical stakeholders and obtain customer sign-off on all architectural decisions before execution begins.
  • Pilot Validation & Rollout Oversight: Own solution correctness during Pilot by validating integrations end-to-end, monitoring architecture integrity, and evaluating outcomes. During Rollout, ensure configuration consistency and integration health across the full portfolio while managing enterprise-level risk.
  • Cross-Functional Collaboration: Partner closely with Pre-Sales Engineers to receive and act on discovery handoffs, with Technical Onboarding Consultants to enable flawless install execution, and with post-live teams to ensure a clean transition into the Stabilize phase. Drive alignment across teams, resolve ambiguity, and act as the connective tissue between pre-live planning and post-live success.
  • Handoff Excellence: Produce thorough, high-quality handoff documentation at every stage of the customer journey including location configuration templates, integration specifications, known constraints, and escalation paths so that downstream teams can execute without ambiguity.
  • Risk Management & Escalation: Proactively identify, document, and communicate architectural risks, workarounds, and technical debt throughout implementation. Maintain an active escalation path for architecture issues and coordinate resolution across internal teams.

What you'll need to thrive (Requirements)

  • 4โ€“6 years of experience in solutions architecture, technical consulting, or enterprise implementation, ideally within SaaS or restaurant/hospitality technology
  • Deep expertise in integration architecture, API frameworks, and data migration methodologies, including handsโ€‘on experience designing, testing, and validating REST API and webhook integrations in sandbox and production environments
  • Demonstrated ability to operate autonomously, make sound technical decisions in ambiguous enterprise environments, and balance short-term execution needs with long-term architectural integrity
  • Strong project management skills with the ability to manage multiple concurrent enterprise implementations across different stages of the customer journey
  • Proven ability to prioritize ruthlessly and drive complex cross-functional implementations forward across competing customer needs, technical risks, and internal dependencies
  • Confident communicator with executive presenceโ€”able to translate technical complexity into clear, actionable guidance for both technical and non-technical audiences
  • Highly organized and documentation-driven, with a track record of producing handoff artifacts that enable downstream teams to execute independently
  • Experience with coaching, mentoring, or team leadership

What will help you stand out (Nonessential Skills/Nice to Haves)

  • Experience working with enterprise restaurant brands or within the hospitality tech space preferred
  • Familiarity with restaurant kitchen operations, menu configuration, and POS ecosystem architecture
  • Knowledge of network topology and hardware provisioning in restaurant or retail environments
  • Previous experience in a role that bridged pre-sales and post-sales technical ownership
  • Familiarity with JIRA, monday.com, and tools used for cross-functional program management
