Job Summary
The Senior Educational Technology Administrator serves as an administrator for the University's Canvas Learning Management System (LMS), ensuring its reliability, security, availability, and optimal performance to support teaching and learning. This position provides advanced technical support by troubleshooting and resolving complex Canvas-related issues for faculty, staff, students, and administrators while maintaining a high level of customer service in a fast-paced support environment. Manages and resolves support requests through the TeamDynamix ticketing system, responds to escalated support cases referred by Instructure Support, including Canvas chat sessions and institutional support tickets requiring administrative intervention, and performs remote troubleshooting sessions using approved remote support software. This position is responsible for creating Canvas organizations used for university communications, faculty development, student engagement, training initiatives, and other institutional purposes. The Senior Administrator also develops, updates, and maintains online student training courses designed to orient first-time Canvas users and promote successful navigation and utilization of the University's learning management system.
The Senior Systems Administrator maintains, and supports educational technology applications that integrate with Canvas, including Turnitin Plagiarism Detection, Respondus LockDown Browser and Monitor, Respondus 4.0 Test Bank, NetTutor Online Tutoring, Microsoft Teams, Camtasia, Watermarks' Student Learning and Licensure and other Learning Tools Interoperability (LTI) applications and third-party instructional technologies, such as- Pearson and McGraw-Hill. The position develops and maintains comprehensive technical documentation, standard operating procedures, user guides, and TeamDynamix Knowledge Base articles to support self-service resources and improve the overall user experience.
This position requires evening and weekend work to provide technical support to end users, perform system maintenance, software upgrades, and emergency troubleshooting.
Minimum Qualifications
1. Bachelor's degree in a related field OR Minimum of five years of experience working within an educational technology technical support area
2. Strong troubleshooting and analytical skills with the ability to diagnose and resolve complex technical issues.
3. Ability to manage multiple tasks and prioritize those tasks effectively
4. Strong written and verbal communication skills, including the ability to create clear technical documentation and knowledge base articles.
5. Excellent computer skills
6. Ability to work with diverse individuals of various backgrounds
Preferred Qualifications
1. Master's degree preferred
2. Knowledge of higher education instructional technologies, accessibility standards, and online learning environments
3. Skill in installation, trouble-shooting and maintenance of technology hardware and software systems related to learning management systems (LMS)
