What is a resource room teacher?

A resource room teacher is a special education instructor who works with students that have special needs. They may work in a regular classroom when possible or take students to a resource room, which is designed to help students with learning disabilities. Job duties include creating lesson plans, assisting students to develop life skills, and collaborating with other teachers. Qualifications for a resource room teacher include a bachelor’s or master’s degree, a passed background check, state certification and licensure, and experience working with students that have learning disabilities.
