Resort Development information

What is resort development?

Resort development is the process of planning, designing, building, and managing facilities and amenities intended for vacation, recreation, or tourism purposes. It involves selecting a suitable location, securing financing, designing infrastructure, and ensuring compliance with environmental and regulatory standards. Resort developers work with architects, engineers, and hospitality professionals to create appealing destinations that attract guests and generate revenue.

What are the key skills and qualifications needed to thrive in resort development, and why are they important?

To thrive in Resort Development, you need expertise in real estate, project management, and hospitality operations, often supported by a degree in business, hospitality, or related fields. Familiarity with property management systems, CAD/design software, and industry certifications like PMP or LEED are commonly required. Strong negotiation, leadership, and communication skills help manage diverse teams and stakeholders effectively. These competencies ensure successful project delivery, guest satisfaction, and profitability in a competitive hospitality market.

What are some common challenges faced by professionals in resort development, and how can they be addressed?

Professionals in resort development often encounter challenges such as balancing environmental sustainability with construction goals, navigating complex permitting processes, and coordinating with diverse stakeholders including investors, local communities, and government agencies. These challenges can be addressed by maintaining transparent communication, staying updated on local regulations, and collaborating with multidisciplinary teams to create innovative solutions that meet both business and environmental objectives. Building strong relationships with local authorities and community leaders can also help streamline approvals and foster goodwill.

Job description

Join Our Team as a Turnstand Attendant at Bandon Dunes Golf Resort!

Are you passionate about delivering memorable guest experiences in a fast-paced environment? At Bandon Dunes, we're looking for a Turnstand Attendant who thrives on multitasking and brings positive energy to every shift. If you love providing exceptional service and working with minimal supervision, this is the perfect opportunity for you.

Please note: Applicants must be at least 21 years old, as this position involves serving alcohol.

About Bandon Dunes Golf Resort:
Bandon Dunes is a world-class golf resort located on the Oregon Coast near the charming community of Bandon. Guests come to experience golf as it was meant to be at Bandon Dunes' six distinct golf courses. That includes five 18-hole courses, which all rank among the top 16 public courses in the United States, according to Golf Digest. The resort is also home to two 'Courses with a Mission': Bandon Preserve, an award-winning par-3 course, and Shorty's, which opened in 2024. All net proceeds from both courses fund the Bandon Dunes Charitable Foundation, supporting communities along the South Coast of Oregon.

Beyond premier golf, guests delight in a variety of dining options at Bandon Dunes' collection of restaurants. Whether you're looking to enjoy locally-sourced, Pacific-Northwest cuisine accompanied by an award-winning wine list or prefer kicking back in a Scottish-style setting with traditional pub fare and local microbrews, there is something for everyone.

Working at Bandon Dunes is a dream for golf fans, outdoor enthusiasts, and hospitality professionals alike. The Bandon Dunes team works together to create trips of a lifetime for our guests. We are passionate stewards of our resort, community, and environment. As an endlessly curious group, we ask questions, share ideas, and always look for a better way. With a hard-working attitude, we help guide our guests through their pure golf experience, immersed in Oregon's natural beauty and away from the demands of daily life.

What You'll Do:
  • Guest Interaction: Provide friendly, attentive service, making every guest feel valued.
  • Food Prep & Service: Assist with food preparation and ensure the Turnstand stays stocked and ready for peak hours.
  • Maintain Cleanliness: Keep dining areas spotless and equipment sanitized. You'll ensure compliance with health and safety standards while collecting trash and cleaning tables and chairs.
  • Cash Handling: Manage cash transactions with accuracy, balancing your cash drawer and reconciling receipts at the end of each shift.
  • Safety First: Adhere to all safety policies to avoid injury from hot equipment, sharp utensils, or other hazards.
  • Stay Flexible: Help out with other tasks as needed to keep operations running smoothly.
What We're Looking For:
  • Previous experience in food service, customer service, or cash handling is a plus, but we're more interested in your work ethic, attitude, and ability to thrive under pressure.
  • Must have or be willing to obtain an Oregon Food Handlers Card and OLCC permit.
  • Ability to multitask, think on your feet, and handle unexpected situations with minimal supervision.
  • Be ready to work flexible hours, including nights and weekends.
Working Conditions:
  • This role may involve working days, evenings, weekdays, and weekends. You will be exposed to various environmental conditions, including both indoor and outdoor settings. Please be aware that safety protocols and practices must be strictly followed to mitigate potential hazards, such as inclement weather, chemicals, solvents, pesticides, herbicides, fertilizers, and golf balls.
Perks and Benefits For Full Time Employees:
  • Free Golf Privileges: Tee off at some of the most iconic courses in the world with complimentary golf access.
  • Quarterly Incentives: When our team meets resort-wide performance goals, we get rewarded.
  • Complimentary Lunch: Stay energized with a complimentary lunch in our Staff Cafe during your shift.
  • Resort Discounts: Save on dining and merchandise throughout the resort.
  • Supportive Work Environment: Be part of a team that supports your growth and success, with opportunities to thrive in a collaborative atmosphere.
  • Career Growth: Take advantage of continuous training and development opportunities to advance your career.
Bandon Dunes Golf Resort is proud to be an Equal Opportunity Employer. We celebrate diversity and are committed to creating an inclusive environment for all employees.
