Job description

As the Plant Manager (Senior Operations Manager) you are responsible for the safe, efficient, and compliant operation of a resin and e-coat manufacturing facility. You will provide strategic and operational leadership across production and process engineering to support current performance and long-term growth plans. As a Leader with deep technical credibility, experience in union environments, and the ability to translate strategic growth goals into executable operational plans, you will report directly to the Director of Plant Management. You will work on site at our Delaware, Ohio manufacturing facility.  You will guide quality assurance and process improvement projects within the resin operation. You will help develop talent, and scale processes across resin and ecoat technologies.

Key Responsibilities

  • Develop multi-year operational strategies to support business growth, capacity expansion, and product development.

  • Partner with leadership to align manufacturing strategy with commercial, capital, and workforce planning.

  • Lead site-level planning for capital investments, new product introductions, and process modernization plans.

  • Oversee daily operations for manufacturing. Ensure completion of production, cost, quality, and delivery goals.

  • Establish and manage Indicators to increase performance visibility and accountability. Lead operations in a union environment, promoting positive labor relations and adherence to collective bargaining agreements.

  • Manage teams that oversee workforce planning, shift structures, and overtime to meet operational demands.

  • Lead the production and engineering teams, providing technical direction, prioritization, and coaching.

  • Promote process optimization, yield improvement, and variability reduction across resin and e-coat operations.

  • Support troubleshooting of complex process, quality, and equipment issues using data-driven methodologies.

  • Champion a safety culture with visible leadership and accountability at all levels.

  • Ensure compliance with OSHA, EPA, PSM, and other regulatory requirements.

  • Collaborate with Quality team for quality systems, audits, and corrective action programs to ensure customer and regulatory standards are met.

  • Coach operations leaders, supervisors, engineers, and production teams.

  • Build succession plans and talent pipelines across operations and engineering.

  • Promote a culture of engagement, learning, and accountability.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Chemical Engineering, Materials Science, Industrial Engineering, or a related technical

  • Master's degree in Engineering, Operations Management, or MBA, preferred

  • 10+ years of progressive manufacturing experience in resin, polymers, coatings, or specialty chemicals.

  • 5+ years of senior leadership experience overseeing operations in a unionized manufacturing environment.

  • Demonstrated experience leading process engineering or technical teams.

  • Knowledge of EHS regulations, PSM, and quality systems.

  • Facilitation, problem‑solving, and data‑lead in decision‑making skills

  • Experience with resin polymerization, compounding, or electrocoating (e-coat) operations.

  • Lean Six Sigma Black Belt or equivalent certification, preferred.

  • Experience leading site expansions, major capital projects, or plant transformations.

  • Experience supporting growth through capacity increases, new product introductions, or technology upgrades.
