Job description

PROPERTY MANAGER FOR THE PUBLIC HOUSING DEPARTMENT

Compensation: $50,336.00 annually ($24.20 per hour) - $61,900.80 annually ($29.76 per hour).

FLSA Status: Exempt.

Starting salary will be $50336.00 annual (based on minimal education and experience).

POSITION FUNCTION SUMMARY:

Under the direction of the Public Housing Program Manager the Property Manager is responsible for working with a team, including the Operations Manager, Office Assistant, maintenance staff, central office staff, vendors and others to develop public housing plan to meet goals established for the Public Housing properties. Public housing plan includes maximizing occupancy levels, collections, maintenance, resident relations, enforcing contracts/leases and ensuring compliance with regulatory requirements.

Education and Experience:

Required:

  • High school diploma or GED
  • Five (5) years of experience in residential property management, affordable housing programs or a community/social service agency/programs, including one (1) year experience in supervising in a management or an administrative capacity

Preferred:

  • Associates degree from an accredited college or university in business administration, public administration or social services
  • Affordable housing certifications
  • Low Income Housing Tax Credit and/or Project Based Rental Assistance experience

Substitution:

  • In lieu of five (5) years experience, thirty (30) hours of college-level plus four (4) years experience or an Associates plus three (3) years experience or a Bachelor's plus one (1) year experience or a Master's degree
  • In lieu of supervisory experience, documented supervisory training program
  • For internal candidates, completion of a supervisory training program within six (6) months

Required:

Ability to read and write English in order to understand and interpret written procedures and federal documents. This includes the ability to give and receive instructions in written and verbal forms and to effectively present information and respond to questions from vendors, contractors, supervisors, co-workers, residents, and city/county agencies.

Preferred:

Bi-lingual (English/Spanish)

Driving and reliable transportation are requirements of this position.
