Job Description
David Weekley Homes is seeking a skilled Architectural Designer/Draftsperson to join our Orlando Division. This role supports our architectural design and construction teams by producing high-quality construction documents and ensuring alignment between architectural plans and structural requirements.
We are specifically looking for a candidate with a strong background in structural coordination, either through direct experience with structural engineering or through hands-on collaboration with engineers in a residential or related environment.
This is an excellent opportunity for a drafting professional who is confident working with structural plans, truss packages, and construction details and enjoys being a key contributor in a fast-paced, team-oriented setting.
Job Responsibilities:
  • Create and update residential construction drawings (floor plans, elevations, plot plans, and details).
  • Integrate structural plans and truss layouts into architectural documents.
  • Coordinate with structural engineers, consultants, trade partners, and internal teams.
  • Ensure plans meet company standards, building codes, and permitting requirements.
  • Review drawings for accuracy, constructability, and structural alignment.
  • Resolve conflicts between architectural and structural elements.
  • Support permitting and production timelines through timely revisions.
  • Maintain organized and up-to-date plan documentation.

Qualifications
  • 2+ years of drafting or architectural design experience (residential preferred).
  • Proficient in AutoCAD (Revit a plus).
  • Strong understanding of structural plans, truss drawings, and basic construction methods.
  • Experience working with or coordinating with structural engineers.
  • Familiar with structural terminology and able to manage multiple projects independently and within a team.
  • Detail-oriented, organized, and proactive with strong communication skills.
  • Experience in residential homebuilding, permitting, and familiarity with Florida building codes is a plus.
