Overview

Assistant Program Director

$65,000 - $70,089 annually

Under the general direction of the Program Director, the Assistant Program Director will provide administrative and clinical supervision to multidisciplinary clinical staff assigned to a treatment team, manage and monitor day‑to‑day clinical operations, ensure quality of service delivery, and support the Program Director through staffing, scheduling, and emergency coverage.

Responsibilities
  • Serve as administrative backup to the Program Director and maintain a therapeutic milieu with positive staff‑patient relationships.
  • Coordinate and implement clinical services for an assigned multidisciplinary treatment delivery team.
  • Help implement and monitor policies, procedures, and systems necessary for the effective delivery of program services.
  • Provide regularly scheduled clinical and administrative supervision to assigned staff.
  • Document supervisory sessions with staff.
  • Assist the Program Director with interviews, new hires, training, appraisal, discipline, and termination of subordinate staff as needed.
  • Identify staff training needs and develop or conduct training to enhance clinical competency and policy compliance.
  • Ensure accurate, complete, and timely patient treatment records that comply with regulatory requirements and internal policy.
  • Ensure all staff uphold the agency's Code of Conduct/Code of Ethics and comply with all applicable federal, state, and local laws, including 42 CFR confidentiality and HIPAA privacy regulations.
  • Monitor quality of patient treatment documentation and initiate corrective actions when required.
  • Network and communicate with other departments as part of the program’s management team.
  • Participate in quality improvement and other agency committees or work groups.
  • Represent Samaritan Village at community and public forums.
  • Perform additional duties as requested.
Qualifications
  • NYSED Qualified Healthcare Professional (QHP): LMSW, LCSW, LMHC, LMSW‑LP, MHC‑LP, or equivalent.
  • OASAS CASAC Certification as an Advanced Counselor or Master Counselor with at least a bachelor’s (or master’s) degree.
  • OASAS Clinical Supervision Foundations I & II (30 hours) completed (except for licensed NYSED QHPs).
  • Bachelor’s Degree in Human Services with 3–5 years of substance‑use treatment experience, including 1–2 years of supervisory experience, preferably in an OASAS‑regulated 819 or 820 residential treatment program.
  • Master’s Degree in Human Services with similar experience and an additional 3–5 years of treatment experience, including 1–2 years in a supervisory role.
  • Availability for a flexible schedule as required by program and staff needs.
  • Computer literacy, including proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite and Electronic Health Records.
  • Excellent organizational, time‑management, writing, and communication skills.
  • Strong interpersonal skills to supervise, coach, mentor, and train substance‑use and other clinical providers.
  • Ability to implement and monitor policy and procedure in accordance with agency guidelines.
  • Knowledge of federal and state laws governing substance‑abuse treatment, confidentiality, security, and privacy of protected health information.
  • Knowledge of OASAS and CSAT guidance.
