Hill International is seeking a Resident Engineer in Toledo, Ohio.
Hill International is seeking a Resident Engineer with a current Ohio Professional Engineer license and bridge experience to join our team. This individual will plan, direct, supervise and implement all field construction quality control activities to ensure compliance with the contract documents.
Responsibilities
  • Supervise and direct on-site personnel involved in quality control work, including personnel administration (performance and wage reviews, promotions, time off, etc.), technical direction of activities, and resolution of problem areas and/or questions.
  • Provide direction to and scheduling of inspection staff.
  • Provide guidance to inspectors to ensure proper and consistent inspection techniques and requirements are implemented.
  • Ensure that project field staff produce and maintain required project records.
  • Ensure that appropriate field staff members are informed of and understand contract revisions and design discrepancies, and that field staff follow through with them.
  • Review contractor's work operations, crew size, and production rates to ensure compliance with the project schedule and identify activities which are or may become critical to the schedule.
  • Monitor and resolve complaints or issues from residents, businesses, and governing authorities.
  • Hold Weekly Progress Meetings and issue minutes.
  • Hold Pre-Installation Meetings and issue minutes.
  • Interact with the owner to ensure satisfaction with the project.
  • Provide necessary outgoing correspondence or documents and ensure compliance and/or correctness.
  • Participate in review board meetings to resolve nonconformance areas, and follow-up to ensure corrections are implemented.
  • Perform internal audits to ensure quality control requirements are implemented and/or maintained.
  • Perform inspection of work in various disciplines as required.
  • Coordinate quality control program with job site departments and contractors.
  • Coordinate Traffic MOT Lane Closure and Rolling Roadblock requests with the Contractor.

Qualifications
  • 7+ years of relevant experience in construction management.
  • Bachelor's degree in construction management, civil engineering, or related field.
  • Valid Ohio Professional Engineering license.
  • Experience managing large-scale bridge construction and/or renovation projects.
  • Experience working and managing Ohio Turnpike construction projects preferred.
  • Must be willing to work full-time on-site.
