Job description

Seeking fellowship-trained, BE/BC Interventional Radiologist to join growing team. This is an exceptional opportunity to build and shape a thriving Interventional / General radiology service line with collaborative, forward-thinking health system that is deeply committed to innovation, quality, and community. They will be joining an employed Breast Surgeon with tele-rad as general support.
The ideal candidate should possess an incredible desire to work with multiple acute care services lines such as general surgery, cancer care, pulmonary +critical care, digestive health, ENT and infectious disease patients through the stages of their disease process. They will work with an excellent team of physicians, APPs and staff who strive to provide the best outcomes for their patients.

Core Responsibilities

  • Emergency Trauma Management: The primary role in a trauma setting is to assist in the diagnosis and control of life-threatening hemorrhage using minimally invasive techniques. This is particularly crucial for hemodynamically stable (or even select unstable) patients to potentially avoid or optimize open surgery.
  • Consultation Services: Providing timely consultation to emergency medicine physicians, general surgeons, and other specialists regarding diagnostic and therapeutic options for trauma and non-trauma patients.
  • Patient Care: Conducting pre-procedural patient assessment and post-procedural management and follow-up, often in a clinic setting.
  • Diagnostic Imaging: In a community hospital setting, the IR may also be required to interpret general diagnostic imaging studies (X-rays, CTs, MRIs, ultrasound) as part of a mixed practice.
  • Quality Improvement: Participating in the hospital's quality monitoring and improvement programs, including the review of trauma cases and adherence to protocols.

FACILITIES & SUPPORT:

  • Clinic/Facility: 10-chair infusion center, onsite lab and pharmacy, two additional infusion centers on campus (1 general/1 rheumatology)
  • Imaging/Diagnostics: PET scanning, 64-slice CT, 3-D mammography, breast MRI, high-definition endoscopy/bronchoscopy
  • Tumor Boards: Bi-weekly for breast, PCC, GI, and ENT
  • Surgical Referrals: Includes breast, colorectal, and vascular; Bone marrow transplants referred to Charleston (MUSC or Roper St Francis)
  • ACGME Accredited: Medical students, Family Medicine Residency, transitional year, Sports Medicine Fellowship program
  • Research & Trials: Currently no active clinical trials; aligned with Duke for access to approximately 450 protocols
  • Currently undergoing submission to become accredited by The American College of Surgeons Commission on Cancer.
