About the role

The R&D Associate leads Product Development & Maintenance (PDM) initiatives within the VMS (Vitamins, Minerals & Supplements) category. This role combines technical expertise with project leadership, owning formulation and reformulation activities while driving cross-functional execution.

The Associate operates as a technical project lead, managing multiple stakeholders, leading technical discussions, and ensuring delivery of projects across timelines, cost, and quality. This role requires strong communication, autonomy, and the ability to navigate both technical and business environments effectively.

Your responsibilities
  • Lead end-to-end product development and maintenance projects.
  • Own formulation and reformulation activities, including feasibility and validation.
  • Ensure all required development activities are completed, including formulation work, analytical testing, stability studies, and industrial trials.
  • Partner with cross-functional teams (Regulatory, Medical, Marketing, Quality, Supply, Procurement) to achieve project milestones.
  • Lead technical meetings, present project updates, and communicate effectively with stakeholders.
  • Manage project timelines, budgets, and risk mitigation strategies.
  • Troubleshoot technical challenges and drive resolution through collaboration with internal and external partners.
  • Adapt to changing priorities and evolving business needs within a dynamic R&D environment.
The experience we're looking for
  • Bachelor's or master's degree in chemistry, Chemical Engineering, Pharmaceutical Sciences or related field
  • 3-5 years of R&D experience (CPG, pharma, or related industries)
  • Experience progressing products from concept through commercialization strongly preferred
  • Proven experience leading or significantly contributing to product development or reformulation projects
  • Experience working cross-functionally in a matrixed organization
  • Ability to independently drive projects from concept to completion
  • Experience in pharma, VMS, or CPG environments preferred
  • Comfortable balancing technical depth with stakeholder-facing responsibilities
  • Experience with technical documentation and reporting
  • Comfortable operating across lab, technical, and business environments

US salary ranges
USD $79,000.00 -  $119,000.00
US pay transparency
The base salary range for this role will vary based on experience in job and industry, training and education, skills relevant to the position, and other factors permitted by law. In addition to the base salary, the position is eligible for an annual discretionary bonus, which is subject to change each year.
