Job description

Position Summary:
The Process Engineer provides support to both manufacturing and chemists to produce successful batches for skin care, sunscreens and other products as needed. This role is responsible for developing, installing and monitoring equipment and processes to turn raw materials into end product.
Key Responsibilities:
  • Act as primary manufacturing resource for pilot scale manufacture of new OTC and Cosmetic Personal Care products.
  • Take ownership of translating bench-level specifications to production-level specifications.
  • Act as R&D lead for reviewing updates to existing Master Batch Records and the creation of new Master Batch Records
  • Provide technical support for manufacturing. Conduct technical investigations, write reports and aid in the close-out of deviations.
  • Lead or support technology transfers by conducting laboratory and/or pilot plant experiments and providing technical risk assessments for new manufacturing processes. Interpret and clearly communicate results to key stakeholders.
  • Liaise as needed with Chemists and Compounders to ensure flow of key information on formulas and process.
  • Design and implement appropriate manufacturing processes for complex products.
  • Up-to-date knowledge of regulatory and quality requirements for manufacturing.
  • Review, edit and write SOPs, as needed, to support GMP manufacturing.
  • Develop and approve technical specifications for equipment purchase and/ or process validation.
  • Interact regularly with senior technical peers and colleagues.
  • Demonstrate leadership behaviors, including the ability to influence.
  • Ability to manage assignments in more than one functional area (process, project, etc.).
  • Other functions as required to support existing operations and customer focused projects.

Requirements

Required Education and Experience:
  • Bachelor's degree in Chemical Engineering.
  • Bachelor's degree in Chemistry with graduate level degree in other Engineering field may be considered
  • 3-5 years of experience in Chemical Manufacturing.

Preferred Education and Experience:
  • Master's degree in Chemical Engineering.
  • 5-10 years of experience in Chemical Manufacturing.
  • Background in / working knowledge of personal care industry and cGMP.

Salary Description
$75k/yr - $100k/yr
