Job description

R&D Laboratory Technician / Chemical Laboratory Technician

Location: Freeport, TX (Onsite)
Duration: Long-Term Contract
Pay Rate: $21/hour on W2


Job Summary

We are seeking a hands-on Laboratory Technician to support research scientists and engineers in a fast-paced chemical R&D laboratory. This role is ideal for candidates with laboratory experience in chemical, manufacturing, materials, polymer, pharmaceutical, or industrial environments who enjoy performing laboratory testing, sample preparation, equipment operation, and accurate documentation while maintaining a strong commitment to safety.


Key Responsibilities

  • Support chemists and engineers with laboratory experiments and research activities.
  • Perform sample preparation, laboratory testing, and routine analytical procedures.
  • Operate, maintain, troubleshoot, and calibrate laboratory instruments and testing equipment.
  • Accurately record test results, observations, and experimental data.
  • Follow Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs), laboratory protocols, and safety procedures.
  • Prepare laboratory equipment and materials for testing.
  • Assist with laboratory inventory, chemical supplies, and consumable materials.
  • Participate in safety meetings and maintain compliance with laboratory safety requirements.
  • Support multiple research and product development projects while working collaboratively with laboratory teams.


Required Qualifications

  • Associate's degree in Chemistry, Chemical Technology, Biology, Materials Science, or another science-related discipline OR
  • High School Diploma/GED with 3+ years of relevant laboratory experience.
  • Experience working in a chemical, manufacturing, industrial, pharmaceutical, polymer, materials, or R&D laboratory.
  • Hands-on experience with:
    • Sample preparation
    • Laboratory testing
    • Laboratory equipment operation
    • Equipment calibration and routine maintenance
    • Accurate laboratory documentation and data entry
  • Strong understanding of laboratory safety practices and SOP compliance.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office.
  • Excellent communication skills and the ability to work both independently and as part of a team.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience supporting R&D, Product Development, Technical Service, or Quality Control laboratories.
  • Experience with chemical handling, inventory management, and laboratory consumables.
  • Familiarity with RCRA waste handling or hazardous waste procedures.
  • Experience working with analytical laboratory instruments and testing equipment.
