About the Role
We are seeking a Senior Data Analyst to support a Drilling & Completions (D&C) organization by transforming complex operational data into actionable insights that drive efficiency, performance, and capital optimization. In this role, you will partner with engineering, operations, and leadership teams to deliver analytics, dashboards, and automated reporting solutions that support critical business decisions.
The ideal candidate is a self-starter with strong SQL and BI expertise, exceptional problem-solving skills, and the ability to communicate complex data insights to both technical and executive stakeholders.
Key ResponsibilitiesData Analysis & Insights
  • Extract, analyze, and interpret complex datasets to support strategic decision-making.
  • Develop and maintain SQL queries against enterprise and operational data systems.
  • Analyze drilling and completions performance, schedules, costs, and operational KPIs.
  • Translate technical findings into actionable business recommendations.
  • Identify trends, risks, and opportunities to improve operational performance.
Dashboard Development & Visualization
  • Build, maintain, and enhance Power BI and/or Spotfire dashboards.
  • Create intuitive visualizations for technical and non-technical stakeholders.
  • Troubleshoot reporting issues and optimize dashboard performance.
  • Ensure reporting solutions align with enterprise business intelligence standards.
  • Support ongoing reporting and data visualization initiatives.
Process Automation & Optimization
  • Design and implement automation solutions to streamline business processes.
  • Identify repetitive manual workflows and improve efficiency through automation.
  • Develop reusable SQL scripts, stored procedures, and data pipelines.
  • Continuously evaluate opportunities to optimize reporting and analytics processes.
Collaboration & Stakeholder Support
  • Partner closely with D&C engineers, operations teams, and business stakeholders.
  • Collaborate with data engineers, data scientists, and IT teams.
  • Provide timely support for ad hoc analysis and reporting requests.
  • Document data definitions, business logic, and reporting methodologies.
  • Serve as a trusted advisor for data-driven decision-making.
Data Quality & Governance
  • Develop data validation processes and perform ongoing quality control reviews.
  • Monitor data integrity and proactively identify anomalies or inconsistencies.
  • Support master data management initiatives across operational assets and well data.
  • Promote best practices in data governance and reporting accuracy.
Required QualificationsExperience
  • 3+ years of experience as a Data Analyst, Business Intelligence Analyst, or similar role.
  • 2+ years of experience writing complex SQL queries in production environments.
  • 2+ years of hands-on experience building and maintaining Power BI and/or Spotfire dashboards.
  • Experience supporting operations, engineering, or field teams in a data-intensive environment.
Technical Skills
  • Advanced SQL skills including:
    • Common Table Expressions (CTEs)
    • Subqueries
    • Joins
    • Aggregations
    • Window functions
    • String manipulation
  • Proficiency with Power BI (preferred) or Spotfire.

  • Drilling & Completions knowledge and/or upstream oil & gas industry experience.
  • Experience with well data management platforms such as OpenWells, Landmark, PPDM-based applications, or similar systems.
  • Understanding of oil & gas operational metrics, including:
    • Well-level data (API numbers, pads, formations, lateral lengths)
    • Drilling metrics (spud dates, drill days, directional surveys)
    • Completion metrics (stages, proppant volumes, pumping schedules, frac timelines)
  • Programming experience in Python and/or R.
  • Experience with Microsoft Power Platform (Power Automate, Power Apps).
  • Experience working with cloud platforms such as Azure or AWS.
