About the Role

The Senior Analyst - Attorney Credits & Research is an integral part of Latham's Financial Analysis team. This role will be responsible for researching and analyzing client data using external market intelligence and search platforms, and internal systems, as well as reviewing internal lawyer information to advise partners on eligibility and how to apply for credits according to the firm's policies, while building and maintaining trusted advisor relationships with attorneys and staff at all levels to support and advise on credit. This role will be located in either our Global Services Office in Downtown Los Angeles or our New York office. Please note that this role may be eligible for a flexible working schedule that allows for a hybrid and in-office presence.ย 

Responsibilities & Qualifications

Other key responsibilities include:

  • Conducting extensive new client research to identify related entities and relationships with firm lawyers by interrogating data from internal systems and external search databases, as well as internet searches and other sources where needed, in order to make a sound assessment of which parties to include
  • Managing ad-hoc credit questions, report queries, and general proliferation and origination credit requests according to the firm's credit policies
  • Preparing client and attorney lists for partner Parallel O credit submissions by investigating client financial history and lawyer statuses to determine and justify relevance
  • Utilizing knowledge of partner Brown Book metrics to advise on credit Key Performance Indicators (KPIs)
  • Supporting Client Credit Council Parallel O submissions and approvals, ensuring applications are accurately completed and approvals are handled appropriately according to the credit setup required
  • Supporting Credit Manager with Lateral partner onboarding and following up to ensure their portable clients are set up appropriately
  • Supporting Credit Manager and providing Credit training and coaching to Attorney Support Assistant population firmwide
  • Representing Credit in meetings with other teams and providing updates or answering questions
  • Managing portfolio of offices to make sure all partner credit needs are met with a structured proactive approach to balance an otherwise fluctuating workload throughout the year
  • Developing deeper understanding of peripheral team processes that impact Credit to better collaborate and capture efficiencies, for example, Conflicts, New Business Intake, Billing, FIC, etc.
  • Working with Credit Manager to develop procedures, processes, and workflow to constantly increase efficiency in the Credit team.
  • Protecting and maintaining any highly sensitive, confidential, privileged, financial, and/or proprietary information that Latham & Watkins retainsย

  • Demonstrate an ability to analyze and interpret data and financials to determine what is happening and make the appropriate recommendations
  • Possess knowledge and proficiency in MS Office, including Excel at an intermediate level or higherย 
  • Have a proven capability to work effectively both independently and collaboratively within a team environment
  • Exhibit excellent communication and professional interpersonal skills, with the ability to collaborate, build relationships, and manage expectations with people at all organizational levels of the firm
  • Demonstrate excellent research, critical thinking, judgment, and analytical skills
  • Possess extensive knowledge and skill in utilizing databases for client research, in addition to familiarity with standard database procedures, such as searching and generating reports, including S&P Capital IQ, S&P Capital IQ Pro, Orbis, Lexis+, FactSet, or similar platforms

And have:

  • A bachelor's degree or equivalent
  • A minimum of five (5) years of related research and analytical experience in a professional services firm, preferably
