Job description

What you'll need to succeed as Principal, Operations Research Analytics at XPO
Minimum qualifications:
  • Master's degree in Operations Research, Data Science, Statistics, Applied Mathematics, Engineering, Computer Science or related field;
  • 5 years in quantitative pricing/financial analysis
  • Proficiency in an object-oriented language like Java, C++, C# or similar; together with exposure to SQL
  • Demonstrated ability to create analytics frameworks in statistical packages like Python, R, or similar
  • A deep understanding of machine learning techniques and experience applying them to solve business problems
  • Experience with reinforcement learning for pricing optimization, decision-making, and consumer behavior modeling
  • Demonstrated ability to frame complex problems, select appropriate research/analytical methods, implement solutions, and present findings effectively
  • Ability to effectively operate both independently and as part of a team

Preferred qualifications:
  • PHD in Operations Research, Data Science, Statistics, Applied Mathematics, Engineering, Computer Science
  • 10+ years hands-on experience in developing and deploying optimization solutions in pricing or finance

What you'll do on a typical day:
  • Develop pricing optimization solutions to drive optimal portfolio management of customers, lanes, and freight mix.
  • Be responsible for improving XPO's understanding of price elasticity and marginal cost, then translating analytics into insights for use in XPO's pricing strategy.
  • Analyze customer willingness to pay, marginal cost, capacity, and competitor comparisons. Construct microeconomic models to define optimal price and business mix.
  • Collaboration with Pricing Leadership, Sales, Operations, PMO, IT, and others on key strategic initiatives
  • Assist the technology team in construction of production data workflows to integrate models with business processes.
