Job description

Litigation Support Supervisor

Supervises and manages the work of members of the litigation support team; responsible for outcomes and performance of the unit. This position supervises individuals who are in the support and clerical roles who are typically non-exempt. This position will also require additional paralegal work with respect to corporate litigation, employment, and regulatory matters. Supervisor must understand AmTrust's corporate structure, management positions, and information storage and maintenance systems. Maintains a solid understanding of AmTrust's mission, vision, and values. Upholds the standards of the AmTrust organization.

Responsibilities

Has formal supervisory responsibilities; coordinates resources and sets daily priorities to meet operational objectives

  • Supervises the daily activities of support or production team members
  • Maintain accurate records related to legal papers served upon any U.S. based AmTrust entity
  • Educate and train members of the SRG on how best to respond to subpoenas served on AmTrust that seek varied and sensitive information.
  • Provide oversight and guidance on how best to utilize e-discovery tools to quickly collect, review and produce documents in response to subpoenas.
  • Problem solving is guided by policies and procedures; receives guidance and oversight from manager
  • Does not typically perform the work supervised
  • Uses judgment to identify, troubleshoot and resolve day-to-day technical and operational problems
  • Guided by policies and procedures, impacts the quality, efficiency and effectiveness of own team and its contribution to the department
  • Explains information, conveys performance expectations and handles sensitive issues

  • Uses judgment and critical thinking to identify, troubleshoot and resolve day-to-day technical and operational problems and procedures, impacts the quality, efficiency and effectiveness of own team and its contribution to the department.
  • Plans work and sets clear priorities; upholds ethical standards and fulfills commitments while maintaining high levels of work output.
  • Shows appreciation for how others are feeling and listens attentively; works well within a team, acknowledging people's different needs and valuing the positive contribution each person makes.

Qualifications

Required:

· Previous experience as paralegal, legal support, or lawyer with an understanding of the legal process and third-party discovery obligations.

· 3 or more years of experience in support role.

· Interacts well with others, quickly establishing rapport; gains recognition for achievements and accomplishments.

· Ability to work in fast paced and changing environment, willingness to learn and adjust to achieve business goals while leading others.

· Strong listening and communication skills.

Preferred:

· Experience leading others

· Paralegal or Juris Doctorate degree or equivalent experience

· Must have an understanding of service of process and the steps necessary after being served

· Must have an understanding of e-discovery and the production of Electronically Stored Information (ESI) in connection with litigation and subpoenas.

· Experience in Excel, Macros and data analytics
