Job description

Why Sabel Systems

Sabel Systems designs and delivers digital engineering ecosystems for DoD programs, enabling teams to connect data, systems, and personnel within secure, scalable environments. Our solutions empower programs to make faster decisions, close sustainment gaps, and meet the digital acquisition requirements.

Rather than simply proposing transformation, we implement and operate it at scale. Our method is clear: we orchestrate existing tools into a governing system of record, ensuring government ownership of infrastructure and traceable decisions. There’s no vendor lock, no proprietary baselines, and no need for ATO rebuilds during transitions.

Sabel Systems is redefining modern defense acquisition. If you seek to solve complex challenges at scale and want your work to directly accelerate military capability while reshaping the DoD’s approach to digital engineering, this is the place for you.

Complexity Simplified. Mission Amplified.

What You’ll Do
  • Assess organizational data landscapes to identify data sources, understand data quality, classify data sensitivity levels, and develop strategies for integrating disparate data sources across functional boundaries (engineering, logistics, finance, program management)
  • Develop and implement data governance frameworks, including data lineage documentation, metadata standards, and quality assurance protocols compliant with DoD directives and organizational security requirements
  • Define and document data requirements, information process flows, and gap analyses; identify missing data connections that prevent holistic understanding across organizational functions
  • Establish data enrichment protocols and data quality standards that support senior leadership decision-making and enterprise-level strategic planning
  • Design and develop analytical models, statistical analyses, and machine learning solutions that extract actionable insights from structured and unstructured data to support organizational transformation and performance improvement
  • Build data pipelines and automated workflows that integrate, transform, and validate data from multiple sources while maintaining security and compliance requirements
  • Conduct exploratory data analysis (EDA), statistical hypothesis testing, and predictive modeling to identify trends, patterns, anomalies, and opportunities for optimization
  • Leverage data science techniques to validate, enhance, and support model-based systems engineering (MBSE) initiatives, including data model assessment and SysML/UAF integration
  • Extract and analyze structured data from enterprise data sources to populate MBSE models and ensure alignment between operational reality and digital representations
  • Design and develop analytical reports, dashboards, and visualizations that translate complex data findings into clear, actionable insights for audiences ranging from technical teams to senior military and civilian leadership
  • Create compelling data narratives and executive summaries that communicate findings, recommendations, and implications in language appropriate for diverse stakeholder audiences
  • Engage directly with stakeholders across organizational functions (engineering, logistics, finance, acquisition) to understand their analytical needs, data requirements, and decision support priorities
  • Partner with systems engineers, MBSE specialists, software developers, and program managers to ensure analytical products align with technical and programmatic objectives
  • Operate in compliance with DoD security requirements, handling classified information and controlled unclassified information (CUI) in accordance with applicable regulations and protocols
  • Participate actively in daily stand-ups, sprint planning, sprint reviews, retrospectives, and other team meetings; contribute to continuous process improvement and team effectiveness
What You Bring Required
  • US Citizen with Top Secret security clearance with SCI eligibility; experience in classified environments preferred
  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, Data Science, Statistics, Mathematics, Operations Research, Engineering, or equivalent discipline; relevant professional experience may substitute for education
  • 8+ years of professional experience in data science, data engineering, analytics, or related technical roles, with demonstrated progression in responsibility and technical depth
  • Advanced proficiency in Python or R for data analysis, statistical computing, and machine learning; ability to write clean, well-documented, production-quality code
  • Strong SQL proficiency for data querying, manipulation, and analysis across relational databases; comfortable working with large datasets and complex queries
  • Expertise in statistical analysis, hypothesis testing, experimental design, and interpretation of results; solid foundation in probability, distributions, and statistical inference
  • Hands-on experience with machine learning algorithms, including supervised learning, unsupervised learning, and model evaluation; understanding of bias, overfitting, and generalization
  • Proficiency in data visualization tools and techniques (Tableau, Power BI, Matplotlib, or equivalent); ability to create clear, compelling visual narratives from complex data
  • Experience working with structured and unstructured data; familiarity with various data formats, sources, and integration challenges
  • Demonstrated experience supporting organizational transformation, process improvement, or change management using data-driven approaches
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills; ability to explain complex technical concepts to non-technical audiences; experience presenting findings to senior leadership
  • Excellent problem-solving skills; ability to translate business problems into analytical solutions and deliver actionable recommendations
Preferred
  • Master's or advanced degree in Computer Science, Data Science, Statistics, Mathematics, Operations Research, or Engineering
  • Experience in highly regulated industries such as DoD, aerospace, defense contracting, or space operations
  • Hands-on experience with cloud platforms (AWS, Azure, GCP); understanding of cloud-based data warehousing and analytics architectures
  • Experience with enterprise data management systems (SAP, Oracle, ERP systems); familiarity with financial, logistics, or supply chain data
  • Knowledge of data warehousing concepts, dimensional modeling, ETL processes, and OLAP cube design
  • Proficiency with NoSQL databases, distributed computing frameworks (Spark), or big data technologies
  • Experience with low-code or no-code analytics platforms; familiarity with enterprise analytics solutions
  • Hands-on experience with MBSE tools, SysML, or data model validation and enrichment
  • Understanding of DoD acquisition processes, POM cycles, budgeting, and program management concepts
  • Familiarity with DoD IT standards, cybersecurity frameworks, and compliance requirements (NIST, RMF, etc.)
