Major Duties

Under the general direction of the Assistant Director, Health Promotion and Administration in the Klotz Student Health Center (SHC), the Health Promotion Assistant provides overall support to the Klotz Health Promotion (HP) unit and the Klotz Matadors4Wellness (M4W) Peer Health Education program. The Health Promotion Assistant will work collaboratively with HP staff and campus partners to support HP programming, education, and assessment initiatives.

• Provides support to Matadors 4 Wellness (M4W) Peer Health Education Program.
  • Teaches college health topics (e.g., stress management, sleep difficulties, alcohol, tobacco, and other drugs prevention, sexual and reproductive health, etc.)
  • Teaches public speaking and tabling outreach skills. Accompanies peer educators to presentations and outreaches. .
  • Assists with weekly meetings and trainings.
• Maintains Excel spreadsheets and files to coordinate HP projects, presentations, and other outreach events.
• Provides HP presentations and engages in campus outreach events. .
• Performs other duties as assigned.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent or combination of education and experience which provides the required knowledge and abilities.
• Bachelor's Degree in Public Health or related field strongly preferred.
• Experience with college peer education strongly preferred.

Knowledge, Skills, & Abilities

• Demonstrated ability to deliver effective, accurate, and dynamic presentations.
• Knowledge of traditional and emerging college student health issues (including stress; sleep; alcohol, tobacco, and other drugs; and sexual and reproductive health).
• Experience with graphic design of ADA accessible materials preferred.
• Ability to work on multiple initiatives in a fast-paced environment.
• Ability to work some evenings and weekends in a 40-hour workweek.

Pay, Benefits, & Work Schedule

• The university offers an excellent benefits package, including but not limited to: medical, dental, vision, retirement & savings, tuition waiver, and more.
• Classification: 8145 / Health Education Assistant / Grade 1
• The anticipated HIRING RANGE is $4557 - $4836 per month, dependent on qualifications and experience. The salary range for this classification is: $4557 - $6508 per month.
• HOURS: Full Time; 40 hours per week; Monday through Friday. May include evenings and weekends.  
• This is a Temporary position; end date to be determined.
