Job description

Position Summary...Te Senior Manager, Energy Project Development leads the energy strategy and coordination for Walmart new store buildouts. This role serves as the primary Energy partner to Realty, Construction, Design, Operations, Finance, Legal, Procurement, utilities, developers, vendors, and other external stakeholders. The role evaluates energy requirements and opportunities early in the new store and supply chain process, supports capital approvals, and coordinates energy-related scope through execution and go-live readiness.
The Energy Project Development team drives Walmart’s commitment to advancing clean energy and reducing emissions across operations. Focused on delivering 10 GW of clean energy by 2030, the team collaborates with real estate, supply chain, transportation, and other areas to implement innovative energy solutions. Comprising experienced professionals, the team applies strong analytical and project management skills to support decarbonization efforts. Their work spans energy project planning, procurement, and coordination, ensuring alignment with Walmart’s sustainability goals while fostering practical and impactful outcomes across the company’s operations and communities.   • Serve as the primary Energy coordination point for new store projects.
  • Partner with Realty and business teams from planning through go-live.
  • Evaluate solar, storage, EV charging, generators, fuel cells, linear generators, microgrids, and emerging technologies.
  • Support creation of capital approval materials, including scope, cost, assumptions, risks, and recommendations.
  • Coordinate among internal teams as well as developers, utilities, vendors, and other external stakeholders.
  • Develop streamlined delivery models using partners already engaged in new store projects.
  • Track milestones, resolve issues, escalate risks, and support execution readiness.

What you'll bring:
  • Experience in energy, infrastructure, real estate development, construction, utilities, or distributed energy projects.
  • Strong partnership skills with Realty, Construction, Design, Operations, Finance, Legal, Procurement, and external stakeholders.
  • Knowledge of solar, storage, EV charging, generators, fuel cells, microgrids, and emerging technologies.
  • Experience supporting capital approvals, business cases, cost estimates, financial assumptions, and risk assessments.
  • Strong project management, stakeholder management, vendor management, problem-solving, and executive communication skills.
  • Ability to improve processes, streamline delivery models, and manage execution across a multi-site portfolio.

The annual salary range for this position is $90,000.00 - $180,000.00 Additional compensation includes annual or quarterly performance bonuses. Additional compensation for certain positions may also include :
