The National Energy Storage Electrical Leader manages the Energy Storage Electrical Team within the Renewables Division. They concentrate on executing efficient service operations, formulating and deploying service strategies, enhancing service offerings, and nurturing the development of the team's current and future leaders. They are accountable for the performance of all service team members. They work closely with market and division leadership to ensure alignment with organizational objectives. They cultivate a positive, professional culture of innovation and excellence.

Business Leadership

  • Manage the Teams technical, operational, legal, and financial matters.
  • Determine strategic objectives and requirements by:
  • Developing and implementing strategies for the Team organization and evolution that align with the organization's goals, focusing on innovation and growth
  • Offering a clear vision for career advancement opportunities
  • Lead the Team by:
  • Fostering staff development
  • Efficiently allocating resources and managing service teams to support projects and clients
  • Balancing workloads across offices and markets while ensuring overall Team utilization
  • Monitoring utilization and key performance indicators (KPIs) to inform hiring decisions
  • Managing professional licenses according to the needs of the Markets and clients
  • Overseeing hiring, firing, promotions, and compensation for the Team, with input from Engineering Managers
  • Offering recommendations for compensation and benefits based on industry trends and staff feedback
  • Identifying technical resource requirements
  • Cultivating, sustaining, and enhancing a strong culture for the Team that aligns with Westwood’s corporate values
  • Develop organizational policies and procedures.
  • Suggest necessary facilities, personnel, and funds for programs and projects.

Staff Development

  • Lead, mentor, and inspire a team of professionals across multiple offices, fostering a culture of dedication and accountability while managing and balancing staff workloads.
  • Promote effective teamwork and leadership principles to create effective solutions for engineering challenges.
  • Promote and establish professional attitudes within the organization.
  • Implement staff development plans for technical, management, and leadership skills.
  • Implement an ongoing mentorship plan for all Team members.
  • Identify training programs that should be extended to the entire Team.
  • Assess the effectiveness of leaders and teams.
  • Recognize and cultivate leaders within the Team

Quality

  • Set standards, training, and quality objectives for the Team.
  • Collaborate with the Principal Engineers, Engineering Managers, and Operations Leader to establish, implement, monitor, and maintain procedures and quality standards for work products, ensuring consistency and efficiency across offices.
  • Evaluate and mitigate risks in proposals, projects, and deliverables.
  • Partner with other teams to develop and implement standards while enhancing organizational processes and communication.

Technical Responsibilities

  • Develop standards and guidelines.
  • Lead the technical aspect of the Team.
  • Integrate advanced concepts to solve complex problems.
  • Engage in lifelong learning to maintain knowledge of contemporary issues.

Business Development Support

  • Drive service and market revenue growth.
  • Explore and expand additional service-based products or capabilities with Market input and consensus.
  • Support Market-driven business development by offering technical expertise.
  • Engage with national clients regarding new products or with new client opportunities.
  • Maintain existing client relationships.
  • Enhance client connections at all levels.
  • Address escalation issues from Market teams and clients.
Requirements:
  • 8+ years of experience in engineering consulting
  • 5+ years of experience leading design teams
  • Experience working for: (1) an engineering consulting firm or (2) EPCs, developers, or construction contractors in the renewable energy sector.
  • Bachelor’s degree in engineering from an ABET/EAC-accredited program.
  • Professional Engineer
