Job description

Reports To: Director of Special Education, Special Education Supervisor, or Building Principal.


Work Schedule: Part-time, 12 - 15 hours per week.


Primary Goal: Support the daily operations of the special education office and maintain accurate records for students with special needs.


Record Keeping: Maintain confidential student files, Individualized Education Programs (IEPs), and department data in compliance with privacy laws.


Communication: Act as a liaison between parents, teachers, and administration.


Meeting Coordination: Schedule IEP and team meetings, prepare agendas, and take meeting notes as needed.


Data Management: Input student data into specialized school software or web-based IEP tracking systems.


Education: High school diploma or GED required; associate's degree or college coursework preferred by some districts.


Experience: 1 to 3 years of secretarial or clerical experience, preferably in an educational or office setting.


Technical Skills: Proficiency in basic office software (Word, Excel), data entry systems, and general office machinery (copiers, scanners).


Soft Skills: High level of confidentiality, strong interpersonal communication, and attention to detail.
