Job description

Renaissance Academy is seeking an enthusiastic and energetic person who is passionate about working with adolescents as Lead Teacher of a self-contained 7th-8th grade Montessori classroom.


Strong critical thinking skills, high expectations for students’ academic achievement and conduct, excellent communication skills for interacting with students, coworkers and parents or guardians, imaginative thinking, leadership, teamwork, collaboration, conflict resolution, resourcefulness, planning and organizational skills, time management skills and the ability to multitask, patience and flexibility, and efficient and comfortable using computers are desired candidate attributes.


Experience working with adolescents in an educational setting is preferred. Must have a Bachelor of Science degree and either an Indiana Teaching License or Montessori Certification and the willingness to obtain both. Financial assistance is available to the right candidate to support pursuit of required certifications.


Renaissance Academy incorporates hands-on, abstract, traditional, and cutting-edge techniques to help each child master the curriculum and prepare for their next step in life. Renaissance Academy offers families of the area a school with an academically focused Montessori philosophy of education.


Renaissance Academy Charter School opened in the fall of 2007 as the only charter school in LaPorte County, Indiana. It grew out of Renaissance Academy, a small kindergarten-through-eighth grade private, non-profit, Montessori school started in 1999, and will remain a Montessori community focused on giving students the best possible educational experience. Our mission is to help every child reach their greatest potential with confidence and joy and we have the same mission with regard to our staff.
