Job description

Description

Operate hangblast machine to clean and finish castings. Perform all tasks with safety and quality in mind and accordance with established procedures and process instructions. Take necessary action to minimize delay time and maximize production.


Responsibilities include:ย 

  • set up, load, and unload castings to ensure proper cleaningย 
  • operate hangblast machine to remove adhering sand, scale, or oxidation from castings and to impart required surface finish
  • add shot, inspect shot screens, and clean as necessary
  • remove large gates and risers using a sledge hammer or rawhide mallet prior to blasting
  • sort castings and determine best casting routing
  • perform visual casting inspection and use various measuring instruments and tools to inspect castings
  • record and report data as appropriate (sample, scrap, certifications, rejections, defect analysis and audits)
  • operate fork truck as necessary when needed (in house training and certification)
  • complete inventory tickets, weight recordings, and routing forms as required
