Position Overview

The Head Start Youth Counseling Center in Atlanta, Georgia is seeking a dedicated and compassionate Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist (LMFT) to join our team in a full-time remote capacity. Key Responsibilities

As an LMFT at Head Start Youth Counseling Center, your day-to-day responsibilities will include:

• Conducting thorough assessments to evaluate patients' psychosocial issues and tailoring individualized treatment plans accordingly.
• Providing evidence-based individual psychotherapy and family counseling to help clients address and overcome their challenges.
• Collaborating with an interdisciplinary medical team to discuss patient care and facilitate access to additional resources, such as group therapy or psychiatric medication management.
• Consistently documenting and managing clinical progress through our electronic health record system, ensuring compliance with organizational and healthcare system standards.
• Participating in crisis management, offering immediate support and interventions to clients in distress.
• Engaging in ongoing performance improvement initiatives to enhance therapeutic practices within the mental health track.
• Representing the organization at community events, professional groups, and mental health committees.
• Maintaining regular follow-ups with clients, particularly addressing no-shows in line with the departmental policies.
• Completing necessary administrative tasks related to non-patient care responsibilities, such as correspondence for external programs.

Patient Population / Client Focus

Your work will primarily focus on families and individuals from diverse backgrounds seeking help for a range of emotional and psychological issues, including anxiety, depression, relational conflicts, trauma, and behavioral problems. You will be equipped to address the unique needs of every client, promoting a safe and supportive environment where healing can occur. Our clinic emphasizes cultural competence and sensitivity, ensuring that all clients feel understood and respected in their therapeutic journey.

Qualifications

The successful candidate will possess the following qualifications:

• A valid and unrestricted license to practice as a Marriage and Family Therapist (LMFT) in the state of Georgia.
• A Bachelor’s Degree in psychology, social work, or a related field; a Master’s Degree is strongly preferred.
• Strong understanding of therapeutic modalities and evidence-based practices specifically related to marriage and family therapy.
• Effective communication and interpersonal skills to foster rapport with patients, families, and team members.
• Demonstrated clinical judgment and ethical decision-making abilities.

Preferred Experience

While not mandatory, candidates with the following experiences will be given preference:

• Experience working in outpatient mental health settings.
• Familiarity with electronic health record systems and clinical documentation processes.
• Previous involvement in community outreach or mental health advocacy initiatives.

Compensation and Benefits
