This remote full-time role focuses on providing essential psychosocial support to students and their families within a school setting. As an LCSW, you will play a pivotal role in conducting assessments, facilitating treatment plans, and ensuring students gain the necessary coping mechanisms to navigate their educational and personal challenges.

Work Environment

This position is fully remote, enabling flexible work hours while maintaining a school-based focus. As an LCSW within our organization, you will collaborate closely with educators, school administrators, and parents to address the unique challenges that students face, especially during these unprecedented times. You will utilize telehealth platforms to conduct sessions, ensuring accessibility for all students and their families in the Oyster Bay, New York area.

Key Responsibilities
  • Conduct comprehensive psychosocial assessments to identify the emotional, social, and environmental factors affecting studentsโ€™ mental health and academic performance.
  • Develop and implement individualized treatment plans tailored to the unique needs and circumstances of each student and their family, utilizing evidence-based therapeutic interventions.
  • Offer ongoing support and counseling to students coping with various issues, including anxiety, depression, trauma, and familial challenges, ensuring a safe space for them to express themselves.
  • Collaborate with teachers and school administrators to provide insights and strategies for supporting students in the classroom setting, thereby enhancing their educational experience.
  • Facilitate discharge planning post-treatment for students needing additional support, coordinating with community resources and support networks to ensure smooth transitions.
  • Provide education and training to school staff on mental health issues, fostering a trauma-informed school culture.
  • Participate in case management meetings with multidisciplinary teams to discuss student progress and adjust treatment plans as necessary.
  • Utilize crisis intervention techniques when needed and provide timely and effective support to students experiencing mental health emergencies.
  • Maintain accurate and confidential records of patient assessments, treatment plans, and progress in compliance with state and federal regulations.
  • Engage in professional development and stay updated on the latest practices in psychosocial support, particularly within the context of school-based mental health services.
Patient Population / Client Focus

This position primarily serves school-aged children and adolescents who are facing a variety of emotional and psychological issues, such as stress, academic pressures, bullying, family dynamics, and mental health conditions like anxiety or depression. You will work closely with parents and guardians to ensure a comprehensive support system around each student and enhance their overall coping strategies.

Qualifications
  • Masterโ€™s degree in Social Work and a valid LCSW license in the state of New York.
  • Strong foundational knowledge in child and adolescent psychology, social work practices, and relevant legal and ethical practices.
  • Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal, with the ability to engage effectively with students, families, and educational staff.
  • Proficiency in telehealth technologies and willingness to engage with remote counseling tools.
Preferred Experience
  • Experience in a school setting or working with children and adolescents is highly preferred.
  • Familiarity with evidence-based practices in cognitive-behavioral therapy (CBT), motivational interviewing, or other therapeutic modalities relevant to youth.

Compensation and Benefits
