About the role and team

We have an outstanding opportunity for an inspirational leader to join the Core Technologies Legal team supporting Uber's core technology platforms and services. You'll be working with a team of attorneys that support product areas including Maps, AI, Cloud/Technical Infrastructure, Marketing, Identity and Customer Support.  If you're passionate about using your collaborative and creative thinking skills to solve big problems, come and join this team as we help the business build the technology that will power Uber's future growth.

Rate of Pay:                 $187,000 to $229,000 per Year

What you'll do 

  • Work with product, engineering, business development, and other cross-functional teams by providing timely and practical legal advice. 
  • Serve as a legal generalist across multiple subject areas. 
  • Advise teams throughout the product lifecycle, from concept and design through testing, launch, and post-launch operations, ensuring compliance with legal and regulatory requirements. 
  • Support the development and implementation of AI governance frameworks that align with global regulations, ethical standards, and company policies. 
  • Ensure compliance with laws governing intellectual property, privacy, consumer protection, content regulation, and emerging AI regulations across jurisdictions. 
  • Draft, review, and negotiate contracts, policies, and documentation related to AI systems, technology partnerships, and platform services. 
  • Collaborate with the global legal team to resolve complex issues, share expertise, and deliver coordinated support to business stakeholders. 
  • Develop and deliver training, guidance, and resources to internal teams on Responsible AI, compliance, and emerging regulatory risks. 
  • Conduct legal risk assessments and red teaming exercises for AI-driven systems, documenting mitigation strategies and ensuring accountability. 
  • Monitor and analyze emerging laws, regulations, and industry standards impacting AI, technology, and digital platforms, and provide proactive guidance to leadership. 
  • May telecommute.
     

Basic Qualifications 

  • Employer will accept a Juris Doctor degree and 5 years of experience in the job offered or in a related occupation. 
  • Position requires: 
    • In-house experience at a tech company;
    • Experience working on AI-powered products and in advising team in the development AI-driven technologies to deliver automated, customer-care experiences;
    • Experience using JIRA, Docusign CLM, Google Workspaces and Salesforce;
    • Delivering employee training, developing informational resources, and implementing strategies to effectively communicate and socialize an organization's approach to regulatory compliance across the company;
    • Navigating regulatory frameworks and providing practical, business-oriented legal advice;
    • Establishing and maintaining content and AI governance framework through the development and enforcement of clear policies and guidelines;
    • Applying structured legal risk assessment methodologies to evaluate potential legal and regulatory risks of new business initiatives, including determining probability and impact levels and guiding escalation processes within corporate governance frameworks;
    • Managing projects and a track record of building new or improving existing programs or processes.
