Job description

Job Analyst

Role Mission:

IDEA's Job Analyst plays a critical role in defining and evaluating roles within an organization to ensure clarity, alignment with organizational goals, and compliance with labor regulations. Under management and support of the Director of Compensation, the Job Analyst focuses on analyzing, document, and maintaining accurate job descriptions and specifications for all job roles and leveraging external market data and job slotting techniques to make recommendations for pay grade, leveling, and titling determinations.

This is a full-time remote position based in Texas with preference given to candidates who live in Austin, El Paso, Houston, Permian Basin (Midland/Odessa), Rio Grande Valley, San Antonio, and Tarrant County (Fort Worth), or who are willing to relocate.

Travel Expectations:

Travel to IDEA training events or stepbacks may be required.

What You'll Do - Accountabilities

Essential Duties:

  • Job Evaluation and Classification: Assess and classify jobs based on factors such as complexity, responsibility, and decision-making authority. Recommend appropriate job levels, titles, and pay grades using internal and external benchmarks. Ensure job classifications align with organizational structure and compensation strategies.
  • Collaboration with Stakeholders: Work closely with hiring managers, employees, and staffing team to gather insights into job functions and requirements; partner cross-functionally to ensure job descriptions and position information are maintained to fidelity; provide data to other compensation team members to support with compensation structure development and recommendations.
  • Conduct Market Analyst: Benchmark job roles against industry standards to ensure competitive pay and benefits; Support salary surveys and market analysis to identify trends and maintain fair pay practices.
  • Provide Strong Customer Service: You will support leaders, partners, and staff in understanding our job evaluation processes through providing proactive resources and responsive communication.

Additional Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Instructional market analysis
  • the implementation and go-live of Workday, including developing processes for managing job descriptions and job profiles within the system
  • Develop and deliver training for role experts on job description and job profile processes within Workday
  • Upload and maintain all job descriptions and job profiles in Workday to ensure accuracy and readiness for go-live
  • Additional duties as assigned

Required Education and Experience:

  • Education: Associate or Bachelor Degree, or Relevant Certification.
  • Experience: Minimum of 3 years of experience in related area of work.

Preferred Education and Experience:

  • Education: Bachelor's degree in related field preferred. Relevant certification such as CCP or significant equivalent combination of education and experience is also acceptable.
  • Experience: High preference with those who have worked in school systems and/or are familiar with common education sector compensation practices.

Physical Requirements:

  • Keyboarding: Entering text or data using a traditional keyboard.
  • Alternate Sitting or Standing at Will: Flexibility to choose between sitting and standing as needed.
  • Gross Manipulation: Compensation team members use their hands for tasks like typing and handling paperwork.

Compensation & Benefits:

Salaries for people entering this role typically fall between $63,400 and $73,300, commensurate with relevant experience and qualifications and in alignment with internal equity. This role is also eligible for performance pay based on organizational performance and goal attainment.
