Job description

Your work days are brighter here.

We're obsessed with making hard work pay off, for our people, our customers, and the world around us. As a Fortune 500 company and a leading AI platform for managing people, money, and agents, we're shaping the future of work so teams can reach their potential and focus on what matters most. The minute you join, you'll feel it. Not just in the products we build, but in how we show up for each other. Our culture is rooted in integrity, empathy, and shared enthusiasm. We're in this together, tackling big challenges with bold ideas and genuine care. We look for curious minds and courageous collaborators who bring sun-drenched optimism and drive. Whether you're building smarter solutions, supporting customers, or creating a space where everyone belongs, you'll do meaningful work with Workmates who've got your back. In return, we'll give you the trust to take risks, the tools to grow, the skills to develop and the support of a company invested in you for the long haul. So, if you want to inspire a brighter work day for everyone, including yourself, you've found a match in Workday, and we hope to be a match for you too.

About the Team

At Workday, we believe that the happiness, development, and contribution of every Workmate is central to who we are. As a member of our diverse and skilled North America Presales team, you will sit at the intersection of Sales, Product Management, Consulting, and Marketing. Your mission is to bring the value of Workday solutions to life, showcasing how the office of the CFO and CHRO can be revolutionized through next-generation SaaS planning and consolidation applications.

About the Role

Workday is looking for a Senior Solution Consultant - Planning to join our Planning Presales team supporting large enterprise diversified industries (DI) customers. You will be a planning subject matter expert who is credible with CFOs and finance leadership, translating complex business problems into compelling vision, value, and solution stories.

You will use your in-depth knowledge of planning, forecasting, and analytics to guide customers across FP&A, workforce and operational planning. You will lead discovery with executive stakeholders, design impactful solution strategies, and deliver high-impact demonstrations that show how Workday Adaptive Planning and the broader Workday platform can transform how our customers plan and run their business.

This is a highly visible, senior presales role requiring outstanding executive presence, storytelling, and selling skills, with a strong bias toward energy, curiosity, and innovation-especially around the role of AI in modern planning and finance.

What you'll do

  • Lead executive discovery and strategy with CFOs, finance leaders, and cross-functional stakeholders to understand their business model, current planning processes, technology landscape, and strategic priorities.
  • Design and deliver compelling demonstrations tailored to large, complex DI enterprises that clearly articulate business value across FP&A, workforce planning, and operational planning.
  • Tell a powerful value story that connects business outcomes to Workday's planning and AI capabilities, driving deal strategy in close partnership with the account team.
  • Position Workday as a trusted advisor by bringing best practices in enterprise planning, scenario modeling, and performance management to every customer interaction.
  • Showcase AI in context, demonstrating how Workday's AI and ML capabilities can augment planning, forecasting, and decision-making, and engaging thoughtfully with customer questions and ideas.
  • Collaborate closely with Sales to shape opportunity strategy, including qualification, discovery plans, demo strategy, POV/POC approaches, and closing plans.
  • Support key sales motions including RFP/RFI responses, value assessments, workshops, executive briefings, and customer references.
  • Represent Workday at events such as customer forums, webinars, and industry conferences, speaking credibly about planning transformation for large enterprise DI organizations.
  • Mentor and collaborate with peers on demo best practices, industry trends, and planning thought leadership, elevating the broader team.
  • Travel up to 50% to engage with customers and partners as needed.

About You

Basic Qualifications

  • Significant presales, consulting, or finance experience focused on planning, forecasting, or analytics, ideally with large enterprise organizations.
  • Demonstrated ability to engage and present to executive audiences (VP/C-level), especially in Finance, and to lead business-focused discovery and solutioning.
  • Hands-on experience with enterprise planning tools (e.g., Workday Adaptive Planning or similar solutions) in areas such as FP&A, workforce planning, and/or operational planning.
  • Proven presentation and storytelling skills-you can structure a narrative, simplify complexity, and deliver high-energy, memorable demos.
  • Strong commercial acumen and selling instincts-you understand sales cycles, can align to value, handle objections, and influence deal outcomes.
  • Demonstrated interest in AI and analytics, with the ability to speak credibly about how AI can augment planning, forecasting, and decision-making.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience working with diversified industries (e.g., manufacturing, retail, technology, media, business services, or other multi-line, multi-entity enterprises).
  • Background in finance, accounting, or consulting supporting CFO organizations.
  • Prior experience in SaaS presales or solution consulting.
  • Track record of thought leadership (e.g., presenting at events, leading customer roundtables, creating reusable demo content, or publishing insights on planning/AI trends).

Personal attributes

  • High energy and enthusiasm-you bring positivity, curiosity, and drive to customer interactions and internal collaboration.
  • Executive presence and credibility-you're comfortable leading the room, guiding discussions, and challenging thinking in a constructive way.
  • Continuous learner-especially around AI, analytics, and emerging planning practices, and you enjoy sharing what you learn.
  • Collaborative and low-ego-you enjoy teaming with sales, product, services, and other solution consultants to win and serve customers.

Our Approach to Flexible Work

With Flex Work, we're combining the best of both worlds: in-person time and remote. Our approach enables our teams to deepen connections, maintain a strong community, and do their best work. We know that flexibility can take shape in many ways, so rather than a number of required days in-office each week, we simply spend at least half (50%) of our time each quarter in the office or in the field with our customers, prospects, and partners (depending on role). This means you'll have the freedom to create a flexible schedule that caters to your business, team, and personal needs, while being intentional to make the most of time spent together. Those in our remote "home office" roles also have the opportunity to come together in our offices for important moments that matter.

Pursuant to applicable Fair Chance law, Workday will consider for employment qualified applicants with arrest and conviction records.
