Job description

Job Title: Sleep Medicine Physician - Virtual/Telehealth (VA Contract)
No of Positions or candidates required: 1.3 FTE total; Full-Time and Part-Time physicians may be considered.
Specialty: Sleep Medicine
Place of Work (City/State): 100% Remote / Virtual - Supporting the Greater Los Angeles VA Health Care System and VA facilities nationwide.
Priority states: Florida, Massachusetts, New York, North Carolina, Ohio, Louisiana, New Mexico, Oklahoma, Texas, Arizona, and California.
Duration: 12-Month Base Year - Firm Fixed Price Task Order
Start Date: Nov 2026
Shift Schedule:
  • Monday through Sunday, based on clinic requirements
  • Coverage may occur between 6:00 AM and 6:00 PM local time
  • Eastern, Central, Mountain, or Pacific Time Zones
  • Full-Time and Part-Time schedules available
  • No on-call or off-hours coverage
  • No overtime authorized
How many shifts needed per month: 20 - 24 Shifts per month
License: Active, full, and unrestricted medical license in the state where the Veteran receiving care resides. Multiple state licenses are strongly preferred.
Certifications:
  • Board Certified or Board Eligible in Sleep Medicine by an ABMS-recognized board
  • Current BLS certification or equivalent
  • Current DEA Certificate
  • National Provider Identifier (NPI)
  • Current CME consistent with Sleep Medicine board requirements
Experience needed: minimum years of experience. Prior VA and telehealth Sleep Medicine experience is preferred.
Special Skills needed:
  • Telehealth and virtual patient care
  • Sleep study review and interpretation
  • Electronic Health Record (EHR) proficiency
  • Familiarity with VistA, Oracle Health EHR, and Somnoware preferred
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills
Credentialing / Onboarding time: 6 weeks to 8 weeks
Responsibilities:
  • Evaluate and manage new and established sleep medicine patients through telehealth
  • Perform electronic consultations and medical record reviews
  • Determine appropriate sleep testing and interpret sleep study results
  • Complete remote physiologic and therapeutic device monitoring
  • Document patient encounters in the EHR within required timelines
  • Communicate results and treatment recommendations to Veterans and referring providers
  • Coordinate care with other treating providers
  • Participate in weekly team huddles and monthly quality improvement meetings
  • Complete required VA/VHA training and maintain credentialing compliance
Misc:
  • 100% remote position
  • VA provides laptop, docking station, two monitors, camera, and PIV reader
  • Physician must maintain a private VA-compliant workspace and reliable internet connection
  • Annual TB screening, required immunizations, OSHA/Bloodborne Pathogen training, and VA mandatory training must be maintained
  • Contractor/physician must maintain required malpractice/liability coverage
  • Contract physicians are considered non-personal service providers and are not VA employees
  • Replacement coverage must be available within 2 hours for an unplanned absence during a scheduled shift
