Job description

About the team
The Endpoint and Campus Infrastructure Security organization owns the corporate infrastructure that keeps Zillow employees productive and connected, including endpoint technologies, corporate systems, employee remote access, and on-premises office and campus networks.
We focus on operational excellence, strong engineering fundamentals, and collaboration, and we design and operate our environments with reliability, security, stewardship, and a high-quality employee experience at the center.
About the role
We are seeking an experienced Senior Network Engineer to serve as the technical owner of Zillow's corporate office and campus networking environments, ensuring employees can reliably and securely connect to the tools and services they use to deliver value for millions of customers.
This senior individual contributor role focuses on the design, operation, and lifecycle management of on-premises network infrastructure and comes with significant autonomy, technical influence, and accountability, but no people management responsibilities.
You will partner closely with peers across networking, endpoint, identity, and security disciplines to deliver reliable, secure, and high-quality employee network experiences within a collaborative, supportive team environment.
The role combines hands-on engineering with architectural ownership, operational excellence, and mentorship of other engineers through design reviews, pairing, and shared problem-solving.
You Will Get To
  • Own the architecture, standards, lifecycle, and overall health of corporate on-premises office and campus network infrastructure, including equipment refreshes and vendor engagement.
  • Design, operate, and continuously improve LAN, WAN, and wireless networks, including networking for office builds, expansions, relocations, and the end-user wireless experience.
  • Operate and maintain enterprise employee remote access solutions (such as SSL VPN platforms and Zero Trust-aligned architectures) to provide secure, reliable, and scalable connectivity for employees everywhere they work.
  • Partner with security and identity teams on identity-aware and Zero Trust-aligned access patterns that protect corporate resources while enabling a seamless employee experience.
  • Serve as a senior technical escalation point during incidents and outages, leading end-to-end incident response, deep troubleshooting, and root-cause analysis for network issues.
  • Develop and maintain clear network documentation, standards, diagrams, and operational runbooks that enable consistent operations and knowledge sharing across the team.
  • Provide technical mentorship and leadership through design reviews, pairing, and shared problem-solving with other engineers.
  • Make pragmatic, cost-conscious decisions that balance reliability, security, sustainability, and long-term maintainability of our network environments.

This role has been categorized as a Remote position. "Remote" employees do not have a permanent corporate office workplace and, instead, work from a physical location of their choice, which must be identified to the Company. U.S. employees may live in any of the 50 United States, with limited exceptions.
In California, Connecticut, Maryland, Massachusetts, New Jersey, New York, Washington state, and Washington DC the standard base pay range for this role is $127,100.00 - $203,000.00 annually. This base pay range is specific to these locations and may not be applicable to other locations. In Colorado, Hawaii, Illinois, Minnesota, Nevada, Ohio, Rhode Island, and Vermont the standard base pay range for this role is $120,700.00 - $192,900.00 annually. The base pay range is specific to these locations and may not be applicable to other locations.
In addition to a competitive base salary this position is also eligible for equity awards based on factors such as experience, performance and location. Actual amounts will vary depending on experience, performance and location. Employees in this role will not be paid below the salary threshold for exempt employees in the state where they reside.
Who you are
  • Significant professional experience designing and operating enterprise on-premises or campus network environments, or equivalent practical expertise gained in similar complex network settings.
  • Strong expertise with Juniper networking platforms, including switching, routing, and wireless technologies (for example, EX, QFX, SRX, and Mist-based solutions).
  • Deep understanding of physical network infrastructure, such as MDF/IDF design, cabling, optics, and circuit provisioning.
  • Strong knowledge of LAN and WAN fundamentals, including TCP/IP, VLANs, routing protocols (for example, BGP and OSPF), and VRFs, as well as experience designing and troubleshooting enterprise Wi-Fi networks.
  • Experience operating enterprise remote access solutions such as SSL VPNs, along with a solid grounding in network security principles and identity-aware access concepts.
  • Experience with network monitoring and incident response practices that support operational excellence and reliable service delivery.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to explain complex technical topics clearly to a range of audiences.
  • Here at Zillow, we value the experience and perspective of candidates with non-traditional backgrounds. We encourage you to apply if you have transferable skills or related experiences.
