Work Environment

Key Responsibilities

• Conduct thorough assessments of mental health needs through structured interviews and screening tools to formulate individualized treatment plans.
• Provide short-term individual counseling sessions and crisis intervention services utilizing evidence-based approaches tailored to patient needs and circumstances.
• Facilitate supportive therapy groups and workshops focusing on key themes in mental wellness, such as stress management, coping strategies, and emotional regulation.
• Collaborate closely with various hospital departments and community organizations to ensure seamless care and comprehensive support for each patient.
• Engage in outreach and preventive mental health initiatives, including community education programs aimed at increasing mental health awareness in San Bernardino.
• Maintain meticulous and confidential documentation of patient interactions and treatment outcomes in compliance with ethical guidelines and legal regulations.

Patient Population / Client Focus

This role focuses on a diverse group of patients from various backgrounds, each presenting unique mental health challenges including anxiety, depression, trauma, and stress-related issues. As a Mental Health Counselor, you will be instrumental in empowering patients to navigate their mental health journeys, fostering resilience and improved quality of life.

Qualifications

• Must hold an active state license as either an LPCC, LMFT, LCSW, or possess a Doctor of Psychology (PsyD).
• A Master’s or Doctoral degree in Counseling, Psychology, Social Work, or a related mental health discipline is required.
• Strong understanding of the challenges faced by patients in a hospital or community health setting.
• Exceptional communication skills to engage effectively with patients and collaborate with a diverse team of medical professionals.
• Familiarity with evidence-based treatment modalities and brief therapy approaches relevant to a community health environment.
• Ability to manage a varied caseload while thriving in a dynamic, fast-paced work environment.

Preferred Experience

• Previous experience in a hospital, clinic, or similar therapeutic setting is strongly preferred.
• Knowledge or experience working with culturally diverse populations in mental health.
• Proficiency in telehealth technologies and a strong familiarity with digital therapy practices.

Compensation and Benefits

• The annual salary for this position ranges from USD 115,000 to 130,000, commensurate with experience and qualifications.
