About ElderNet

ElderNet of Lower Merion and Narberth is a nonprofit organization dedicated to helping older adults (60+) and adults with disabilities age in place and remain in their homes and communities. Through volunteer-driven services such as transportation, friendly visits, and light assistance, ElderNet reduces isolation and strengthens community connections.

Position Overview

ElderNet is seeking a skilled volunteer Website Developer to maintain, improve, and potentially redesign our website. The ideal candidate will have experience with WordPress and/or Wix and can advise on whether maintaining our current WordPress site or converting to Wix would best support our needs.

This role will help ensure our website is accessible, secure, visually appealing, and easy to update โ€” while clearly communicating our mission to volunteers, donors, and community partners.

Key Responsibilities

Website Maintenance (Current Platform โ€“ WordPress)

  • Maintain and update content, plugins, and themes
  • Ensure website security, backups, and performance optimization
  • Troubleshoot technical issues
  • Improve accessibility and mobile responsiveness
  • Implement SEO best practices

Website Redesign / Platform Evaluation (Optional Project)

  • Assess pros and cons of maintaining WordPress vs. migrating to Wix
  • Recommend the best platform based on ElderNetโ€™s capacity and budget
  • Lead redesign or migration process if conversion is recommended
  • Create a clean, user-friendly design aligned with ElderNetโ€™s branding
  • Ensure donation, volunteer sign-up, and contact forms function smoothly

Ongoing Support

  • Provide guidance and light training to staff on updating content
  • Be available for occasional updates or troubleshooting

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience developing and maintaining WordPress websites
  • Familiarity with Wix platform (design and migration experience preferred)
  • Knowledge of SEO, accessibility standards (ADA compliance), and mobile optimization
  • Experience with nonprofit or small organization websites preferred
  • Strong communication skills and ability to explain technical concepts clearly
  • Organized, reliable, and able to work independently

Time Commitment

  • Initial evaluation/redesign: Flexible project-based timeline
  • Ongoing maintenance: Approximately 2โ€“5 hours per month
  • Remote work with occasional check-in meetings
