Job description

About OnePay
OnePay is the consumer fintech trusted by millions of Americans to make money better.
Our financial system is broken. High fees, low rates, and too few ways to actually grow your money. We're fixing it. And we're moving fast.
We're an all-in-one financial services platform that brings together banking, high-yield savings, credit cards, point-of-sale lending, investing, and crypto in one place. We also partner with employers, HCM providers, gig platforms, and others to deliver embedded financial services to millions of employees and frontline workers.
We're backed by Walmart, the world's largest retailer, and Ribbit Capital, one of fintech's most respected investors, giving us rare scale, distribution, and the opportunity to build something truly category-defining.
But what really sets OnePay apart is how we move. Our customers don't have time to wait... and neither do we. This place moves fast, and we're looking for people who are:
  • Ready to run
  • Hungry and driven by urgency
  • Exceptional at what they do, with low ego
  • Comfortable operating in motion

The role
As part of the Fraud Strategy team, your mandate is to minimize fraud losses from account takeover (ATO) and scams that target OnePay customers while optimizing the customer experience within Authentication risk flows, including; device login risk, profile management, account recovery, passcode reset, mobile wallet provisioning, etc. You will be responsible for supporting the continued build out and maintenance of a best-in-class fraud platform, core capabilities, and risk strategies - including integration of agentic AI capabilities into risk decision flows. You will work closely with product, platform, data, technology, and operations teams to continually advance fraud controls and related infrastructure.
This role is responsible for:
  • Developing and maintaining data-driven strategies to prevent fraud loss from ATO, scams, and social engineering schemes that target OnePay customers
  • Creating and executing the authentication roadmap for OnePay covering analytics, tools, capabilities, and operational processes
  • Conducting independent data analytics of portfolio behavior to identify new or shifting fraud trends using relevant tooling (Databricks - SQL, Python)
  • Overseeing the authentication fraud monitoring/alerting logic, ensuring that all critical loss vectors are covered and alerts are calibrated to be relevant & timely
  • Supporting the build out and integration of AI capabilities directly within risk workflows to automate processes, accelerate execution, and improve fraud prevention & customer experience outcomes
  • Maintaining and enhancing network/graph analysis strategies designed to capture collusive fraud rings while minimizing false positive impact to good customers
  • Working closely with and supporting IT, Operations, Product, and AML teams to investigate and triage authentication fraud incidents
  • Staying abreast of the latest fraud prevention industry developments & trends, including emerging fraudster capabilities & tactics and methods to combat them, as the SME for authentication fraud at OnePay
You bring

  • Highly analytical skillset with an ability to synthesize vast amounts of data into meaningful insights
  • Deep domain knowledge of the types of tools & tactics used by bad actors to conduct targeted or large-scale authentication fraud attacks, and experience in developing best-in-class solutions to mitigate these threats
  • Demonstrated ability building with AI tools-including LLMs, prompt engineering, workflow automation, or advanced analytics platforms-to improve fraud strategy & detection, eliminate manual effort, and drive measurable improvement to fraud loss, operational efficiency, and customer experience within the fraud lifecycle
  • Proficiency in SQL & Python
  • Excellent communication skills with the ability to articulate complex issues into clear, simple language for a diverse audience
  • An act-like-an-owner mentality. We have a strong bias toward taking action

What it's like working @ One
  • Competitive cash
  • Benefits effective on day one

  • Generous stock option packages in an early-stage startup
  • Remote friendly (anywhere in the US) and office friendly - you pick the schedule
  • Flexible time off programs - vacation, sick, paid parental leave, and paid caregiver leave
  • 401(k) plan with match

Leveling Philosophy
In order to thoughtfully scale the company and avoid downstream inequities, we've adopted a flat titling structure at One. Though we may occasionally post a role externally with a prefix such as "Senior" to reflect the external level of the position, we do not use prefixes in titles like that internally unless in a position which manages a team. Internal titles typically include your specific functional responsibility, such as engineering, product management or sales, and often include additional descriptors to ensure clarity of role and placement within our organization (i.e. "Engineer, Platform", "Sales, Business Development" or "Manager, Talent"). Employees are paid commensurate with their experience and the internal level within OnePay.
Inclusion and Belonging
To build technology and products that are used and loved by people and solve real-world problems, we need to build a team with many different perspectives and experiences. We are an equal opportunity employer and value diversity at our company. We do not discriminate on the basis of race, religion, color, national origin, gender, sexual orientation, age, marital status, veteran status, or disability status. We encourage candidates from all backgrounds to apply. Applicants in need of special assistance or accommodation during the interview process or in accessing our website may contact at talent@one.app.
