Location: Remote - US East Coast
Compensation: $187,000 - $215,000 / year
Description
Surgo Health is a Public Benefit Corporation building the world's most comprehensive and insightful AI-powered data platform that reveals the why behind people's behaviors. We uncover the unseen drivers of health - people's beliefs, barriers, and behaviors - and transform that intelligence into scalable products that enable healthcare organizations to drive impact, reduce costs, and advance inclusion. From improving clinical trial design to optimizing care delivery and public health strategies, our solutions help decision-makers act on what truly shapes health outcomes. By revealing the human side of healthcare, we're making it more personal, precise, and effective - for everyone.
We are hiring an experienced Vice President, Strategic Growth Pharma. This role will own and lead a critical vertical for the company, serving as the connective tissue across product, clients, and go-to-market efforts. You will bring deep sector expertise and relationships to shape how we position, sell, and evolve our offerings in the pharma sector. You will enjoy this role if you are both a strategic leader and a hands-on builder-equally comfortable influencing product direction, engaging senior stakeholders, and driving relationship-based sales. Over time, you will scale this vertical by building and leading a high-performing sales function selling our data and AI platform. You will join a dynamic and fast-paced environment and work with cross-functional teams to design, build, and roll-out products that deliver the company's vision and strategy.
What you'll achieve:
  • Own and grow a core vertical, defining the strategy, priorities, and approach to market
  • Act as the primary bridge between clients, product, and marketing, ensuring what we offer and how we position it reflects real market needs
  • Develop and deepen senior relationships across the ecosystem, becoming a trusted partner to key stakeholders
  • Drive relationship-based sales, originating and closing high-value opportunities with new and existing partners
  • Shape product direction by translating client needs and market signals into clear inputs for the product team
  • Refine our go-to-market approach, working closely to ensure strong marketing positioning, messaging, and pipeline generation
  • Build and manage a robust pipeline, owning the full sales cycle from opportunity identification through close
  • Identify and unlock new growth opportunities within the vertical and adjacent spaces, including channel partnerships and other opportunities to scale
  • Represent the company externally, strengthening our presence and credibility in the sector
  • Build and scale a sales team over time, establishing processes, culture, and performance standards

About you:
  • Deep expertise in the pharma ecosystem, with strong relationships and a clear perspective on where the sector is heading
  • Significant experience in business development and commercial leadership, including closing complex, high-value deals with senior stakeholders
  • Proven ability to operate as a trusted partner to clients, understanding their needs and translating them into solutions
  • Strong product and technology fluency, with experience positioning and shaping data or analytics-driven offerings
  • Track record of driving relationship-based sales in complex, multi-stakeholder environments
  • Ability to connect across product, client, and go-to-market teams, influencing direction and ensuring alignment with market needs
  • Strong communication and storytelling skills, including developing compelling pitches, proposals, and external-facing materials
  • High ownership mindset with the ability to build and grow a vertical in a fast-paced, evolving environment
  • Energy, resilience, and drive to navigate ambiguity and consistently deliver results

Location: We are open to this role being based remotely, with ideal for east coast location, or someone who can work east coast hours if based elsewhere. Our headquarters are based in Washington, DC. We operate in a hybrid model, with our full DC team in the office at least two days/week on Tuesdays and Thursdays.
Travel: No travel expected
